*shudder* As someone with chronic arachnophobia, today's episode was not the most comfortable. I find myself very sympathetic to Carlos' plight.
Anyone else have a similar fear of things that creep? Or any stories they'd care to share?

Quick tip... don't be eating a cereal bar with chocolate chips on it while listening to this, you will freak out when you notice an odd shaped dark chocolate chip and throw the bar across your desk... my co-workers are giving me odd looks again.
Great file, I wonder if ghost animals will be a recurring thing? id love to hear about the guy who was tormented by the thousands of chickens he had unknowingly put to slaughter to curve his KFC addiction.

We didn't fix it! Every podcast hosted by Soundcloud was down because the messed up their maintenance. I was not a happy bunny.

So, I'm getting ready for work in the wee hours of the morning, and I see a spider a bit bigger than a thumbnail. I was too squeamish to kill it with a crumpled tissue, so I squished it with a circular trash can. When I moved the trash can away, it had curled all its limbs in, you know, THE WAY DEAD SPIDERS DO? (Perhaps I'm telegraphing a bit...)
Minutes later, I asked my dear husband to take care of the carcass, and he made some joke about "why is the trash can moving towards the front door?" Ha ha.
Minutes after that, "Uhhhh, where did you say the carcass was?" NO SPIDER. Spider alive. Spider knows my face and inability to strike hard and true.
Thanks for listening, friends. This may be my last posting.

we have a pretty nasty spider in New Zealand called the white tail. Can't spin webs, eats other spiders and can cause nasty side effects if they bite you as they pick up so much bacteria - its like a lottery. I've removed about three from my room here - the first was on the ceiling and I didn't like how it was moving and it pretty much almost climbed out the beer glass i'd trapped it in. The only other one that i've seen that was pretty gross was in the garden when my housemate and I were clearing leaves. Not identified it as yet but it had a fat round body and was pretty big. My housemate and I just looked at each other and decided we were not going to continue gardening that day hehe

(Fellow Kiwi here) I'm allergic to the damn things. Luckily katipo are both shy and rare. TBH spiders don't bother me because we have formed an alliance against my real enemies, mosquitos.
"Scary" animals are always great though because there is something terrifying about an animal with something of the "more than a beast, less than a man" sort of intelligence, especially coming from something as common as a spider.

Well being originally from the UK - the mosquitos were a shock! I'm not allergic, but wowsers you should see the giant circular swellings and welts they give me sometimes. I still have a scar on my foot from a sandfly bite. Nasty things!!!

Noooo! Don't put me off New Zealand. I have resolved never to go to Australia because of the climate and the fauna, but I really want to visit NZ.

My wife and I did a month long trip out there, it was absolutely amazing. The best way to avoid killer spiders is to go in the middle of winter, we discovered.
