so we're looking at doing some medium~long term planning on our characters, and wondering if anyone had any suggestions. any prestige classes you like, any magic items you are a fan of? if you've got any ideas for stuff you think would be cool, fire away.

I veto Frenzied Berserkers and Illithid savants.
Frenzied Illithid beserker savant? No. Get out.

No Frenzied Berserkers, please! Their damage output is horrendous. Although I'm guesssing no-one here would be the min-maxed monstrosity I had (briefly) playing in one of my campaigns *shivers at the flashbacks*

I would advocate any items that have random effects; for example, a potion that could heal you to full or turn you into a frog for a bit.
Maybe for a bit later down the line but it adds a bit of spice since the players (and GM I suppose) would have to react to it on the spot, and improv is the best imo.

Oneiros used to be obssessed with the deck of many things, and put it in all his games. i have never been a fan of random items like that. though if you've listened to episode 12: yes, i have put on a probably cursed ring. i'm a halfling, if there's an evil ring going round, of course i'm going to end up with it.

Yup, pretty much any D&D campaign I ran post-uni would include my repurposed Deck of Many Things - the Plaques of the Seldarine (or Erevan's Deck) - for which I had a specific prop: a gilt-edged set of Arabic playing cards.
If anyone's interested in the details I can send my notes on it to them, or post the item in the forum if preferred.

I am hoping to institute a bit of random with spell failures. Its on the list of 1001 things I need to do.

1002: Humble Bryn by any means necessary.

It was a compliment! A COMPLIMENT!!
I was trying to express to our loyal fans just how hard you work.

Well either way I have a new way of dealing with it.

I rather suspect Bryn will soon be taking a couple of levels in the Smouldering Meaty Chunks prestige class...

Nah, we discussed it and instead he's going to the "Furious Backpedaling" feat instead.

I would actually like to see this, as I quite like the deck of many things and would love to see what someone else has done with it

I'll dig it out as soon as I can - unfortunately my laptop is having some problems and is not on my tablet to post.
