So it's been a little while since I've listened to the earlier episodes, but if I'm remembering correctly, a lot of the technology in the setting is powered by elementals. I remember that the wind up torch contained an electrical elemental that was captured and agitated by the winding. This is all accepted by the characters as normal, but it seems pretty disturbing once I thought about it. My impression of elementals is that they're sentiend beings. When you get down to thinking about it, it's a society being propped up by elementals being imprisoned and enslaved. I'd love to see this come up in the podcast sometime. Like the fallout of an escaped elemental going bezerk, an activist group that opposes the use of that technology, or even an invasion from one of the planes the elementals come from. Any plans for this to be addressed in game? And thank you guys for making my favourite real play podcast

Wow, that is pretty dark, now you mention it. What evidence is there that they are sentient, though? I thought they were just mindless, aggressive bundles of energy?
I would love to see the moral choices here, with some kind of Elemental Incursion. That could be really interesting to experience.

Oooo, that is a good point! I hadn't thought about that. Iirc however, elementals are not all the same level of sentient. There are ones that are intelligent beings, but a majority are sort of animal level intelligence. I think characters in the setting would mostly see it as similar to using work animals such as horses, but I guess there could be people who oppose it. Some of that is guesswork on my part though, Alex Newall may have a different take.
