A number of strands flying about in today's episode as we touch once more on meat-related activities, get warnings on darkness as Basira turns up with news about the People's Church and the names of Tom Haan and Maxwell Rayner crop up again. For reference, Tom Haan was mentioned in MAG030 - Killing Floor. Also this was a very interesting take on looking at a crime scene from the perspective of the ordinary people who live nearby as well appealing to the visceral mystery of what goes on behind that police tape and our desire to know more. Another take on body horror/trauma, not to mention some kind of variant Phantom Limb Syndrome as our statement-giver ended up in a strange superposition of having both lost and not lost his fingers. And we discover that Martin is somewhat queasy around blood/meat, though I daresay that is probably unsurprising . And what of the man who accosted Craig - is this Tom Haan himself or some other player? And what of the fascination with religious history and cannibalism? After all, we're not supposed to take transubstantiation at face value... are we? And what of Basira - is this really going to be a showdown with Maxwell Rayner and the People's Church of the Divine Host? Just how dark is this going to get...

Cor blimey, this one was worth the wait! I'm going to go so far as to say this is my favourite episode to date. I was disgusted, scared, and yet fully engrossed from beginning to end. I wonder if Eustace Wick is connected to the Haan family at all? Also, since he seems to somehow be able to reproduce severed body parts and lives in the Waltham area, I wonder if Tom Haan has ever tried his hand at some amateur dentistry? Don't even get me started on Basira and Maxwell Raynor. Wonder if we'll get another statement from her next week?

That was great. Definitely a return to form after last week's (though I appreciated the theories about the flat statement delivery possibly indicating a not-person). I did pick up on the matching Haan surnames straight away.
I also found myself thinking about the bin bag of identical teeth found not so far away in Leytonstone a year later. And I thought about the fact that they were all in varying stages of decay, which - in light of this episode - is really quite disturbing.
Finally, thanks to Jonny. I was listening to this episode absolutely intently, with damp palms and and a racing heart, but even so the incongruous "low level racism" line genuinely made me lol.

You guys, I'm so worried about Basira. Maxwell Rayner is serious business. Gah, I hope we get an update next week!
Also this episode is one of the best endorsements for vegetarianism I've heard lately.

Hi everyone, what an amazing episode. Made more scary by the number of meat-esque products I've eaten in Waltham stow takeaways over the years. Since of then wore their one-star out of five hygiene ratings as a badge of pride.
I am worried about Basira. But how come they are moving against the church now - what's kicking things off?

Is the name of John Haan's murdered (and butchered) wife Lan Ying? I have been relistening to try and catch her name as I noticed it was similar to Jennifer Ling from MAG42. I was following a strand of red string that notes that John's wife's body had signs of injuries that were "self-inflicted" as well as those caused by being dismembered & mixed into burgers* by her husband, which put me in mind of Ling's death after listening to her recording of Grifter's Bone.
*As a decent cook and fully paid up foodie, my view is that she had to be in the burgers. Donars are bought in and seem difficult to form for the average takeaway owner, but anyone can form a burger & mix it with a bit of standard-issue beef to avoid detection. Yes, please do contact me for all your culinary homicide-masking needs.

That really is super morbid. Suggests that someone was pulling out someone else's teeth for tens of years over and over again. Who would do such a thing?!

Not only that but the bin bag full of torn out bits of The Lord's Prayer could well have been from the stack of Bibles in the kebab shop!

Ok, so each week I find myself more and more tied in knots of red string.
I've said I'm a supporter of Spooniermist's Dimension theory twisted with the idea that those dimensions are served in some capacity by the not-people. Michael for the endless hallway etc. And John Han with the slaughterhouse. I think that this is MAG supports that theory.
This MAG describes Han's hypnotic laugh that is very reminiscent of michaels. Mr Han also appears to come and go seemingly at will, just like Michael. Though this iteration doesn't seem to have a plan and acts on seeming impulse, kidnapping and torturing people for no apparent reason, whilst Michael acting in a strictly logical and methodical manner. Not to mention apparently having a wife.
I think after this event, Han decided to return 'home' for a while, assumed the identity of his nephew so he wouldn't be caught after this MAG and stayed there till the events of MAG30

Firstly, while I also assumed that the kidnapper was John Haan for a while, I saw someone on Reddit comment that it might have been Tom, which also makes sense.
Secondly, finally caught up with the timeline - This statement occurs just a few months before MAG19 takes place. Pretty safe to say the Haans and the Carlisles are linked somehow.

I am so rusty with TMA, my red string is in the corner gathering dust!
I'm not sure how connected this might be, but I was reminded of MAG 49 'The Butchers Widow'. In that we observed Jared removing bones, doing his old bone turner trick and then 'feeding' them to a hole in the ground lined with teeth. Not sure weather Mr Han had a purpose for cutting and collecting fingers, it might be the same reason as Jared had, to 'feed' to a portal.
But it makes sense that its connected to MAG 5 'Thrown away' it seems he collects stuff, he has a pile of chipped tea cups, so wouldn't be too difficult to think he collected doll heads.
