Ah, the hazy world of insomnia and sleep disorders. Where night and day lose their meaning and trusting one's senses becomes somewhat difficult. Can you believe what you see? Can we believe what Lydia Halligan is telling us? Is this really "Michael" hovering in her world or just the indistinct delusions of the sleep-deprived. When you lack a proper reset button, isn't it wise to take everything with a hefty pinch of salt? Lovely statement looking at the interface of our senses, the boundaries of sleep and wakefulness and rather deftly interweaving the story of perception through it. This is probably one of my favourites of Season 2 . As for the supplemental - we have the Archivist finally get some practical sense and set up a camera, though what he sees could be just as disturbing as what he may have been imagining. Who is this strange figure now? And what of Sasha's movements that are looking somewhat suspicious? Things are moving in the Archive... but what is going to be uncovered?

I think this is one of my favourite episodes. I listened on the train home from work after a night of very little sleep - hearing such a vivid description of the symptoms of fatigue whilst experiencing them was completely absorbing.
Great work Jonny and everyone else involved!
And Whoop! Michael!!

I have to say, the description of curling smoke on that sign gave me a nice shiver. I'm pretty sure that prediction 2 of my signature is inching closer to being confirmed. I feel like it was similar to Hive last season, in that there's a lot of exposition told by an unreliable narrator in a stream-of-conciousness way. I wonder if Michael will be there at the conclusion of the season?

More connections: Michael, hypnotic fractals, teeth (this time a child's AAAGGHHH), and references to being out of time/in another dimension. The "short story" describe struck me as the clearest explanation of where this is all heading than anything else we've heard so far. Unless it's a careful bit of misdirection...
Help. I'm getting paranoid about a podcast's intentions!

I think that was the most disturbing statement so far.

And with that, I'm caught up on all the episodes. I just discovered The Magnus Archives on Saturday (five days ago) and I've now binged through the whole thing.
This episode resonated a lot with me. When I was younger I performed these same "experiments" of seeing how long I could stay awake and then trying to break my record. I don't recall my final record, but it was well over 60 hours. You do start to see things, I can vouch for that much. Though the things I saw were innocuous; things like .jpgs seeming like .gifs when I saw them in my peripheral vision.

Alright guys, what is Michael's deal? On reddit there were some theories going around that he feeds on human suffering in some way. But is he a sort of vulture, drawn to those already in distress? And if so, how does that square with his behavior in "A New Door," in which he seems to be actively trapping a woman? He describes himself as neutral in the "war" that's going on, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he's passive. His behavior in the three statements he's been in is so different (showing Sasha how to kill worms, hunting and trapping a woman, then seemingly just hanging around in this statement) that it's hard to get a handle on what he actually is or does. Did he cause Lydia Halligan's insomnia, or is he simply enjoying it? Or is he perhaps a more complex entity, with reaches into multiple things?
And will we get to hear him on tape again? His appearance in MAG 47 was soooo eery.

And if so, how does that square with his behavior in "A New Door," in which he seems to be actively trapping a woman? My thought in that episode was that since she had already seen the hallway dimension, she was damned and he had to claim her. Perhaps if she had managed to curb her curiosity about the yellow door, she'd still be alive. Though, the yellow door is kind of like a fishing lure in a way; if Helen Richardson hadn't gone through "The New Door", someone else would have eventually.

Interesting...but he was there shepherding her toward the door in human form, wasn't he? Though even then you could argue he was only observing.
