It's all kicking off below the Archives... Twisting tunnels and strange doors, elongated monsters that look like the familiar and yet not, tracking and hiding and coming to realisations too late...
We're heading towards a finale but the path to get there is unlikely to be straight and just who can you trust? Who is this strange figure in the darkness? What happened to the Not!Sasha? What plans does Michael have for Martin & Tim?
I'll leave you all to hypothesise...
P.S. For anyone who found the audio a little confusing, the transcript will be available on the Rusty Quill Patreon feed on Friday.

My money is on Leitner being the man in the tunnels. I've seen a few suggestions that it could be Gerard Keay which I could get behind if it weren't for the fact he's got such a distinctive look I'd have thought the archivist would recognise him. Whoever it turns out to be, the voice actor delivered their first line tremendously - I've got goosebumps!
Loads to unpick from the monster's "statement", chief among my questions being how it became friends with Breekon & Hope, and why it was sent to spy on the institute.
Also, Martin K. Blackwood poetry as a patreon bonus or I begin a revolt!

Holy shit, what an episode! This is easily my favourite so far, with so many plot points coming together. Firstly, the jump scare with Not-Sasha was amazing: the problem with a lot of horror film/TV, in my opinion, is the reliance on jump scares, to the point where they don't become scary as they happen every ten minutes. I think Not-Sasha bursting out at Martin and Tim was the first proper jump scare we've had, and it was all the stronger for it, as this is a podcast that doesn't do that. Kudos to Jonny!
For the first time listening this was a scary episode, with Not-Sasha stalking Jon through the tunnels, Micheal confronting Tim and Martin (did Martin leave and Tim stay behind?) and all the horrible supernatural noises and voice distortions... what a culmination!
I really don't understand what happened to Not-Sasha at the end, is it clear from what we heard? It seems like she just... disappeared? I'm not sure, super interested in who the man at the end is, I suspect Leitner, or maybe the guv'ner mentioned in an earlier episode, or maybe a member of the illusive Lucas family?
From Not-Sasha's reaction to Jon, I think we can be fairly sure that the position of Archivist is a sacred one, or at least something different anyway. It's an interesting concept, that the main character isn't supernatural, per se, but their position is supernatural and brings various protection and neutrality along side it. This must translate to his colleagues as well, from what Micheal said about them not being protected in the tunnels.
Definitely one I need to relisten to. Looking forward to reading the transcipt when it's released too. God, what a good episode!

My guess is that the voice is Jonah Magnus, btw.

It'll be hard to know for sure what happened to her until next week, but I really hope that's not how she bows out as that would be quite the anticlimax. If it is Leitner (and he's my safe bet on who it could be) perhaps he's found some leather-bound way of warding off this entity. If it's Adelard Decker, as some have suggested, we know he's got tricks up his sleeve for dealing with this particular monster. My guess is that the voice is Jonah Magnus, btw. Jonah is my long-shot bet. The formality of his address, and just the general tone of his voice suggest somebody of a bygone era.

Given the voices apparent ability to bind poltergeists, my conservative bet is it's Edulard Decker still on the hunt, though I can't remember Jonathan's description of the man in the tunnels matching the one in MAG78

The transcript has just been released, and something I missed upon listening is when Not-Sasha said:
"You’ll miss the Unknowing, of course, but you wouldn't understand it anyway."
I wonder what the Unknowing is, what a curious name!

I wonder what the Unknowing is, what a curious name! I'm glad this has been brought up, I read the transcript as soon as it was uploaded and this has been bugging me all morning! I'm assuming The Unknowing is the endgame of the series. Some sort of cataclysmic event involving various factions we've seen so far and no doubt ones we've yet to encounter. There's a book on Christian mysticism called The Cloud of Unknowing which talks of abandoning conscious thought and will in order to become closer to God, which is certainly something that could easily be respun into a more insidious context...
