OR: "Oversight"
We return to the Magnus Institute to check in with the folks there as Detective Alice 'Daisy' Tonner is back with just one question - Where is the Archivist? And it turns out Elias has the answer but she definitely doesn't like his statement. Not one bit. Just how many eyes in the shadows does our Mr. Bouchard have? And Daisy doesn't seem like the person who's just going to take Elias at his word and back down completely... Who do you think is going to come out better here?
Lovely bit of backstory for our returning dodgy detective, and thanks go out to Fay Roberts for reprising the role. And very nicely framed with Elias being the one to deliver the exposition. We also hear from plaintive Martin, determined to believe the Archivist has done no wrong and that Sasha can be returned safely. Versus Tim, whose energy has definitely taken a hit, perfectly willing to believe that John is a murderer and that there is no hope for Sasha. And what of their conversation with 'Michael'? Or the poor lady wandering those corridors - will she ever get out again?
The Archives are in a mess - and this time, we're not just talking about Gertrude's filing...

Not much to red string on yet, but Ben really knocked this one out of the park in terms of voice acting. Glad to hear more of Elias.

The EYEwitnesses. Nice nod to Beholding.
I wonder to what degree Elias knows what he's working for and how comfortable he is with it. He's become such a wonderfully scary character, but other than getting away with murder, I'm not sure what he ultimately wants. Or what Beholding wants? That seems like a fuzzy line.
This episode was really well written and Ben's performance totally blew me away. I hope we get more direct Elias recordings!

Elias was so wonderfully creepy in this episode. I especially loved his little chuckle after Det. Tonner mentioned the name "John Doe"--such a great touch!
I also loved Martin's reaction to finding out people thought he and Jon were close. Never change, Martin.
Looking forward to seeing more of Det. Tonner this season, although I am hoping she doesn't take Elias's advice about trying to kill Jonathan quickly. I enjoyed her exasperation with the repeated attempts to give her "statements". Apparently she hasn't quite figured out how the archive works yet.
