Welcome to Heorot, brave and noble travellers. Rest your weary axes for none shall trouble you whilst Beowulf and his loyal thegns are here to defend you. Yes, it's another special from RQGaming, this time giving GM Alex the chance to stretch his wings into D&D 5th Edition, though given this motley crew, who can tell where advantage will lie... We were also very lucky to have the awesome Helen Gould (@alecto101 on Twitter; website: Black Fem Geekery) with us to partake in this silliness noble and valiant adventure. This is a three-part special, as no mere two parts could contain the legendary feats of this brave trio... er, quartet.

These episodes were genuinely some of the most fun I have ever had with his show.

This was so awesome! Can't wait for the rest! ♥ The Beowulf myth is interesting and has so much potential for hilarity. I love Alex's DM-ing, so many great ideas and fun depictions of the scenes! And I love Lydia and all her characters, she's amazing! (Her description of Ungrak's spiky hair combined with the mention of anime made me think of Zaraki Kenpachi from Bleach. Also a fun character that fits the Barbarian theme. XD) Bryn and Ben's laughing is always so infectious. And you all play so well together, it's a genuine pleasure to listen to! And whatshisface was...erm...there too? (But seriously, she was great!)

From Bryn in the beginning: "I am a mathematician, I have no idea what any of these people are talking about."
SO RELATABLE. All of my gaming friends studied literature/philosophy/religion, and I'm just hanging out calculating probabilities...
This special is off to an excellent start! Beowulf was excellently ridiculous.

I can't believe I didn't object at the time to this whole G in Thane thing.
EVERYTHING I THOUGHT I KNEW ABOUT SPELLING IS A LIE!

I listened to this at work today, and my coworkers probably thought I was a weirdo for grinning while I copied things and printed envelopes. Worth it! I enjoyed all of the barbarians, but Helen Gould as the indignant Ulf was especially fun.

And we're back with Episode 2 as Beowulf's vassals ponder the best way to rescue their lord, and advise on matters of reconstructive civil engineering. And there's a rather bracing swim to contend with as well. This ep also showed me that I had misjudged Alex's capacity for just casually ramping up the misery (albeit for comedic drama purposes)... that poor orphan and the javelin...

And the moral of this story: Don't trust friendly seeming strangers who suddenly appear in your midst. XD
It was brilliant, you're all amazing! ♥
