***May contain spoilers!***
I am actually not quite sure where exactly this post would fit, but it is regarding the RQG world. So, here we go.
I am at episode 60, so maybe some of these perceptions will be changed in a matter of days, but at the risk of spoilers, what does everyone think about the characters? Or is there a better place to discuss this? In the event there isn't a better place, I post four questions to all: 1) What's your perception about them? 2) What's been your most memorable (good or bad) scene with each character so far? 3) How have they changed from the beginning? 4) What do you see/would like to see happening moving forward?
Here's my list (in alpha order because sorting them any other way wouldn't be right):
Bertie - 1) I hope he gets another pet. He's definitely a lovable one, despite what his human creator may say... Ok, he was. Which leads us to: 2) most memorable memory was when he pretty much up and quit the party after his contract was resolved in dreamland/illusion land. That one actually hurt me a lot, and that he was so into leaving was a kick in the gut. Hearts broken there, Bertie. I was fine with you changing Brutor's memories, even just being a pretense hero for your own personal gain. But not learning from all that and sticking with the crew for the greater good? Bad, Bertie. Bad. 3) Hard to say. I guess now that we know more about him, I find myself seeing his actions once seen as funny and enjoyable as deceptive and a bit hypocritical. I still like him though... I have hope. 4) My hope is that he becomes a better person. He has to, no? No? Not even a little bit? Sadness...
Hamid - 1) I'll admit that I wasn't sure the stature of a halfling until like 20 episodes in. I knew he was small, just not HOW small. I think he's very endearing. Despite my size confusion, I really like his character, his compassion, and how normal/normal-odd he reacts to things. Seeing a person cut down in half? Totally warrants a throw-up fit. Getting stuck with a doomsday tentacle monster in zero visibility? Definitely warrants more than a couple of tears. That he actually did those actions, sacrificing gameplay was outstanding. 2) Any time he prestidigitizes. Especially during single female lawyer episode. Also the first time he saw his claws, and each time they've reappeared since. He's taking it like a champ for being someone with a... somewhat frail mental constitution compared to the rest of the Rangers. 4) I hope he cheers up a little. It made me sad when he was wandering around sad and defeated at the posh hotel in Paris, trying to tell others not to worry about the party, but to go help out. If he was trying to tug at heartstrings, he succeeded. That gave me more feeling of chaos and depression than the riots.
Sasha - 1) I love her. She's like the human in a lot of us. She's quirky, focused, so far has dealt a heck of a lot of damage on things for being the sneaky rogue, and she makes me laugh a lot. 2) My favorite memory? When Zult lets it slip that he had to put her organs back inside. He mentioned it in such a quiet voice amidst his unusual fit of panic and frustration, but she was right on it and her reaction was awesome. Also, while saying goodbye to Brock's fleeing form. 3) A good thing about listening to so much of the story in such small time is that a lot is still very fresh in my mind. I still remember how she critically failed to escape her assailants a few weeks ago when it all started (scattering makeup all over a crowd while trying to disguise herself) and how she hid behind Bertie like a little scared kid. Now? Ha. She's right in front of (or behind) being all stabby stabby or throwing little pieces of hellsfire. She's really come out of her shell, and I like her reactions to having friends and people she likes. She's very loyal and mostly compassionate, except to that boss she triple stabbed and never let cast one single spell. 4) Hopefully more of that stabby stabby deal, and seeing her rising as a leader.
Zolf - 1) The leader figure who doesn't have his stuff figured out gets major thumbs up from me. We don't need a holy guardian of all that is good that makes the best decisions and is always right and civil. He's a mercenary with a lot of years of experience, and who hasnt always had it easy, who has a blemished background, yet tries to keep to his faith and get the work done. I don't know what it is about him, but I respect him greatly. 2) Killing the two gnomes after their failed attempt to kidnap Oscar in such an unceremonious way... I was actually kind of shocked when that happened. 3) I think that at first I saw him as a focused, let's-stick-to-the-task leader. I still see him that way, but now I see him more human--err, dwarf. More of a normal person who's had his downs, his very low downs, then some ups and good successes. I feel good when the Rangers do well, as it reflects on him. I like to think he's proud when they do well, even if he's not very upfront about congratulating people. After the whole thing with the court date and going AWOL, he's definitely a lot more normal in my eyes. After losing both legs and regaining them? I can feel he's thankful but still hasn't opened up to things. That said... 4) I think he's not one to open up any time soon, but he's a lot more human/dwarf than other people... *side glance at Bertie*. He was a bit calculatingly cold towards Hamid while he was sulking in the hotel in Paris before he got his legs back. That shows a lot about him and his let's-get-it-done attitude and commitment to it.
