As a kinda bonus for new fans and those who may not follow the #RQGaming feed, we reprise our Hallowe'en 2016 Gaming Special as Jonny slipped away from the Archives to come run a game of Deadlands - the supernatural horror-themed "Weird West" setting (here done for the Savage World system). Hope you like this diversion - we're here for 2 parts, followed by the 2 winning entries from the Rusty Fears competition and we finish up the break with an Assistants' Round Table.
Welcome to puns, ponies and painful accents - and yes, jokes about cardplay and cartography are pretty much par for the course for our lot :-)
Will our hapless posse make a stand and deliver a winning outcome? Stay tuned for the next installment of a game where "Wanted: Dead or Alive" takes on a whole new dimension!

...and we finish up the break with an Assistants' Round Table Oohh, that sound very intriguing! Also, the Deadlands special is my favorite one, right alongside the Beowulf special! It's absolutely priceless! XD

Also, the Deadlands special is my favorite one, right alongside the Beowulf special! It's absolutely priceless! XD I skipped ahead on the RQGaming podcast and listened to these already because you recommended them hyoscyamus . I think my favorite part of this episode is the Book of Job penalty sermon. Not ready to jump into the RQG forum yet since I'm still catching up, but definitely enjoying the show so far! I don't have much experience with tabletop gaming, so the occasional rule explanations are much appreciated. Really love the world-building and the characters are so engaging and hilarious together. Almost makes me wish I knew some folks around my area who play, but the thought of both ad-libbing and quickly performing basic math is a special brand of terror all its own. Best not to risk it.

You should totally give it a go! The improvisational side of it gets easier with practice, and it doesn't need to be done the exact way we do it. Many of the gaming tables I've played at move more slowly. Not to mention that we get edited to remove our dithering. As for the maths, there are systems out there that require a lot less, or find a friendly player who's happy to help you with it.

I think my favorite part of this episode is the Book of Job penalty sermon. And don't forget he wrote a follow-up parable! XD Yes! And tell us about the game! And I guess most GMs are used to having new players around. So you can always ask them for help (as an old hand too, but especially if you're new).

And we're back with Part 2 of the Deadlands special as Jonny concludes our erstwhile Hallowe'en tale in suitable style. Hope you all enjoyed that little foray into the gaming side. As ever, the sound effects really made this one - the ear ringing shot as it went off right by Fletcher was amazing and really made me wince. And the accents don't really get any better do they? If you're interested in finding out more the Deadlands game, it's produced by Pinnacle and there's info here: www.peginc.com/product-category/deadlands-reloaded/Stay tuned for the first of the Rusty Fears winners next week!

Stay tuned for the first of the Rusty Fears winners next week! Agreed, the sound editing is always excellent! The bad accents were fabulous, so much fun! XD Sad for us (and them) that Zeke can't read and put the journal away. I would've loved to hear where the monsters came from and why/how they knew about the past of the skin-donors. Made me laugh, though. Aaaand a thing I don't like to admit is that there's one joke I don't get at all. At first I thought it was lost in translation (or that I'm too dumb), but I talked to liraven about it and she didn't know either. So, when Ben/Cigarillo asked whether Black Jack brought any ordinance - where's the punchline? Is it an inside joke? Makes me sad not to know, because Bryn cracking up so hard makes me laugh every time regardless. XD Ooooh, so exciting!!! Can't wait to hear the contest stories!

It's a play on "ordnance" being munitions/equipment/explosives and "Ordinance Survey" which is the UK's national mapping agency. Hence, Cigarillo is asking, or "surveying", Black Jack about "ordnance", which is compounded in context with the map that he has draughted.

Should've asked sooner. Thank you so much for explaining! Now the part is ten times funnier!

Ohh, another thing I wanted to ask. When Jonny explained the super-fuel would 'scream as though the dead themselves were burning alive' when it's used for science reasons Bryn said Uranium would do the same. I googled a few times, but can't find anything about this. Does Uranium make sounds? And when/how does this happen? What I did find was a project that uses the structure of atomic nuclei for sounds, The Radioactive Orchestra. There was a contest of music created with sounds of different nuclei and especially the second winning song, Kallocain, is a really cool ambient music piece. They don't have Uranium as sound, though.

But hey, the music project is neat, so at least I found that.
