We hit the mid-point of the mid-season break with the first of the Rusty Fears horror story writing competition winners. First up is Lucid by Elizabeth Richardson (@designmuse on Twitter) which takes us beyond the veil of sleep into a realm where the dreamer's attention is not the only thing that is focussed... So, what do you think? How did this rate on your horror story meters? I will say that lucid dreaming was a key part of a number of the entries we received - something about things or horrors crossing the barrier between dream and waking is a fertile trope, it appears Stay tuned for the second winning entry coming next week!

So, what do you think? How did this rate on your horror story meters? This was a great story! Very well written and spooky. I loved all the dreamscape imagery, and the part in the warehouse with the light turning off and on was especially creepy. Congratulations again to Elizabeth! Magnus fans with troubled sleep? How unexpected.

And today marks the second of the competition winners as we delve into horror that isn't by the numbers with Paint by Melissa Mason (@missy_mi on Twitter), taking on another familiar horror trope - that of the cursed painting - and applying some excellent brush strokes in the tale.
Hope you all enjoyed! We have one more week of the mid-season break with an Assistants' 'Round Table' and then we're back with MAG101 on May 17th...
