Unfortunately Celine Dion was not available to do the soundtrack to this episode, so you'll have to settle for some otherwise wonderful stormy soundscaping, philosophy jokes and an awful lot of DOOOOM!
Plus a very telling comment from Alex...
Is Bertie going to win his bet with Zolf? Does Poseidon really have it in for the Rangers? Will they ever get to France?!

Brilliant episode, loved the time with each group being somewhat equally managed, even though the 'real' time seemed somewhat shorter for Zolf, Sasha and Hamid. Also the end of the episode being 'what year is this set?' started to really bug me I was just wondering if there was a specific time period where the game is actually set. Zolf still needs to check some clerical abilities as well, as I believe his domain gives him the ability to float (even in full gear) for 1 round per level, as well as giving him the ability to breathe underwater for 2 hours per level. I do sympathize with clerics though as they are really difficult to remeber the full spell list for.

I don't think it's a domain power as Water domain grants the icicle bolt attack and cold resistance.

Don't Zolf also have islands as a domain power as well?

Don't Zolf also have islands as a domain power as well? Yup, and you're right about the granting of buoyancy. I ran afoul of the formatting on the SRD, as they've neglected to include spell levels on the domain page. For the sake of argument, let's say that I prepped Fog Cloud in that domain slot, as Zolf's meditation time is traditionally at dawn and he didn't think that he was going to have to get on a boat that day. Water breathing is a third level domain spell, which I only get access to at 5th cleric level.

Oh, also I think I can answer on behalf of Alex with regards to which year it's set in, which is: none in particular. We've got historical figures from a variety of time periods alive at once (e.g. Edison was born in 1831 and Byron died in 1824, but they've been in the same room as each other in our game) so the time period is sort of 'Georgian/Victorian/Industrial Revolution but everyone's can do a magic'.

Yeah, this. Alex has left is specifically ambiguous, which frustrates me in some ways, cos I like to know this sort of detail, but it make sense as well.

Also got confused myself due to SRD formatting myself when researching this and hamid's bloodline

You all have the right answer but canonically the year is:
18-somethingty-MAGIC.

- THIS is how I've answered any question for the last two days. Darn you guys are far too easily quoteable! Probably shouldn't have listened to this on a train to London on Wednesday. Not only adding to the atmosphere but being on a train/surrounded by people and laughing hysterically not a great look. Quite genuinely frightened for the safety of everyone at the moment... I like the unambiguous time frame... But I like the feel of eclectic things being brought together.

You'll find that Alex is very generous with the doom-giving. A kind of Father DOOOM-mas for the whole year with the DOOOM that keeps on DOOOMing. That lump of coal? It burns for DOOOM! (Hmmm, now envisaging Alex as Robot Santa from Futurama...)
