The Message is good, short but really enjoyable
Just started Alice isn't Dead today and really enjoying it so far!
Thanks for the suggestions, folks! The 6th isn't too far away now right?

For a short one (seriously, about 2 hours in total) check out "The Message". Not truly horror, but suspenseful and twist-y. Yeah, I liked The Message. High production values. A new podcast surfaced in my feed called LifeAfter from the same theatre company; I plan to check it out after Knifepoint.

Only two episodes up so far - possibly a third tomorrow? - but it seems just as good. Interesting premise, too, and ghosts-in-the-machine (*ahem*) seem a bit more Magnus! As I marathoned The Message, I really thought of it more as an hour-long* radio play, but thinking back it did sound very professional, didn't it? I suppose me not noticing it proves your point! * I listen to podcasts at 2x speed. Sue me.

If you've never heard Knifepoint Horror, give it a listen. No longer running, alas, but it was a big influence on TMA and I still hold it up as the gold standard of horror fiction podcasting. No mysteries or titles or credits, just fear. No longer running? The new episode in my subscription box disagrees!

Hurray! Yeah, he says he's not doing anymore, but sometimes, when the stars are right, you might get a special new episode.

I generally find Pseudopod a bit hit and miss, but 535: The Lady With The Light, is phenomenally Magnus - creepy, personally focussed, and has more than one familiar theme. I'll say no more.

...and perhaps the most terrifying one, innocuously called "staircase". Why is this one so scary?! What the hell, I remember listening to it and, at the time being pretty meh about it, but I can't stop thinking about it! It just unsettled me to my very core and I don't know why. And I don't want to listen to it again to find out!! I have to say, curse you and cannonlongshot for this!
I thought to myself "I can handle magnus what's a story about a staircase gonna do to me" A BLOODY LOT APPARENTLY!
...seriously I haven't slept all week.

Samwise I was just listening to some Knifepoint when doing some monotonous overtime work But yep, staircase is I think creepy because it deviates so much from the usual Knifepoint fare... if you've listened to/read the others, I think it's obvious what I mean!

Third for Alice Isn't Dead! Just finished Black Tapes, now moving on to TANIS... For a short one (seriously, about 2 hours in total) check out "The Message". Not truly horror, but suspenseful and twist-y. The folks behind "The Message" have another short series called "LifeAfter", which is very cool.
I'm also listening to The Bright Sessions, Ars Paradoxica, Wolf 359, Lore, Tanis, The Black Tapes, Rabbits and code:SEVERE. Also I should give a shout out to Phil Rossi's CRESCENT, which was the first original story podcast I ever listened too, and is still creepy as heck, even though I know how it ends!

A lot of the podcasts I would recommend have already been listed here and on the Nerd Board. Huge seconding for Wolf 359, MarsCorp, EOS10 and WTNV. Here are a few others:
The Lost Cat Podcast - A man's search for his lost cat in an equally weird, dangerous environment as Night Vale. The Orpheus Protocol - RPG about members of an organization that fights monsters. System and story was invented by the GM. Cthulhu & Friends - A Call of Cthulhu RPG with a modified D20 system including sanity rolls. Archive 81 - Similar to TMA in that the protagonist is drawn into the supernatural horror by listening to recordings instead of reading. Where TMA is focused on writing, this show is focused on sounds and music. SAYER - An amnesiac protagonist is commanded by an evil AI through a futuristic moon station in their new live. SABLE - The dangerous odyssey of several people who's lives are bound together in mysterious ways through various realities and their struggle to survive. Critical Role - An classic DnD RPG of several voice actors. Very thrilling and fun to watch or just listen. Atheist Apocalypse - Comedy in which the cast of a News radio station reports about the increasingly weirder world after a mysterious apocalypse that caused a large part of the world's population to disappear. The Munster Hunters - Parody of audio dramas about professional monster and demon hunters (like John Sinclair and CO) The Infinite Bad - Horror-comedy RPG from the makers of MarsCorp. A Scottish Podcast - Parody of popular mystery and ghost sighting shows with a lot of self-irony. The Unspeakable & Inhuman! - Parody of Lovecraft's The Shadow over Innsmouth. Sadly not completed, but the episodes that are there are hilarious! Myths and Legends - The original versions and origin of popular stories and folklore retold in a fun way spiked with a few sarcastic commentaries about the morality of the stories. Last Podcast On The Left - Three guys giving detailed info about aliens; serial killers; conspiracy theories; cults; Bigfoot hunters and CO, while making fun of said killers; conspiracy theories and everything else. Hostile Worlds Podcast - From the makers of A Scottish Podcast. Half documentary/half space exploration comedy, each episode describes a hostile place in known space, like Venus or Titan, and what it'd be like to go there.

The Black Tapes, Tanis, Rabbits, Alice Isn't Dead, Within the Wires, and Welcome to Nightvale are all great.

Found another one with short-ish stories. Nice VA-voice and good stories, also very well done eerie background music/ambiance sound. The Horror Hill from the Simply Scary Podcast Network. Didn't listen to the other two series yet, but this one is really good! (Would've been nice to find it during TMA hiatus. Ah well. XD)

I've started listening to Mabel recently, which has been really good. It's pretty confusing at first, but the plot (once you can understand it) is super interesting. All of the language is poetic-sounding and it's sort of like a modern version of old fairy tales (but not like Cinderella, like with the fae and stuff). I wouldn't call it horror, but it is a little creepy. Also, main wlw couple, which we love to see!
