I gave "D&D is for nerds" a try but honestly the players ended up annoying me. I felt like I was listening in on a session peppered with in-jokes that I wasn't privy to and they seemed more interested in goofing around than actually playing the game. That may be fine for some but it ended up annoying me and I unsubscribed. "The Adventure Zone" is good but gets a bit too rule heavy for my taste, from what I remember. There's also "The Glass Cannon Podcast" which struck a good balance between rules, setting and fun but nothing has hit the sweet spot for me yet like RQG has. Yeh I consume a lot of the other Sans pants channels which definitely helps.

Basicallllllly... Rusty Quill is the best! What I've seen 'Experience Points' on YouTube looks pretty good, but it looks staged and I can't admit to have watched it all... youtu.be/LPpSyp4pTk0

I discovered HarmonQuest last week and absolutely love it. I find it hilarious, even if everything is skimmed over very quickly. I found the rest of them on YouTube and they're worth it. Who plays on the Yogscast? I watched one of their earlier series with Simon as a robot cleaner, but found it to be too much of them twatting around to enjoy. That said, I normally love Ye Olde Gamers, but not this time. This one is actually a 'normal' d&d game, not a short or a one-shot campaign. It has none of the normal yogs, but instead has Kim and Chris Trott (who actually create content) and the others are from behind the scenes (some episodes do have guests from the yogscast). Each session they do is a full 3 hour long session and is played (mostly) seriously, like all good RPG's games. I think they are level 6 or 7 at the moment of writing. Also if you don't like the normal streams, Mark Hulmes (the DM) does some very good Q&A streams and there are some very good horror themed one-shots with Kim DMing Thanks for the suggestion here, theoverlord. I've been listening to them on and off, and although I still don't really like Kim, the DM really makes it. Thanks!

Almost all I listen to are actual play shows now. Godsfall got a mention earlier in the thread, and I'd happily recommend it. Their audio quality is middling for the first 15 episodes or so, but gets better after that. The DM has put a lot of effort into writing an original world and story, with creation myths, pantheons, societies etc. within the 5E rules. It's well edited and produced which I'm a stickler for. I've been really enjoying it.
Another which nobody's brought up yet is Cthulhu and Friends. Those folks are playing Call of Cthulhu, and while I don't enjoy their pre and post-game banter, in-game they are EXCELLENT. Very tense atmosphere, well produced, and they seem to have very good ideas about who their characters are and how they react to the world. It can be a bit too heavy to marathon, I break up my listening to them with other shows. Their 4th season is a new campaign, and I've started there. Once I catch up I'll go back to season 1 and work my way forward.
Next on my list is Aquisitions Incorporated, which I've read good things about.

Apologies for necroing! Just wanted to give a shutout to Film Reroll. It's an actual play podcast where the creators play through well known films using the GURPS system. I've never played the system myself but it seems endlessly customizable based on the stats they create for each episode. They play for comedy and the episodes often go completely off the rails in comparison to the films as the GM gives the characters a lot of agency. For first timers I'd recommend Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Labyrinth.

also gonna jump in here and recommend critical role again: its a huge time sink but well worth it. Campaign one started in pathfinder but got moved over to D&D5e before the show started, so theres some sweet pathfinder holdovers, and the players are all professional voice actors who very rarely (if ever) break character during the shows, its incredible how much you get invested in the characters and their stories, they feel like real people!

I'd be interested in locating a good role playing podcast using the World of Darkness or Scion systems.

I'd be interested in locating a good role playing podcast using the World of Darkness or Scion systems. Funny you should mention Scion - I'm a big fan of the premise. I ran a couple of games in a slimmed down version of the ruleset at Nine Worlds last year, and if I can angle it, I'd like to run something in it for RQGaming.

Scion is so much fun (we've been playing a game for two years now, and we're transitioning to having me as a Storyteller here in a few weeks) but the whole system is broken. It's almost impossible to run a game past about legend 6. I hear that Onyx Path is putting out a Second Edition soonish, though, which might be truly playable...

Yeah, I've tried one game as a player at God level and it was... not good. It's so difficult to do anything that isn't just too esoteric you might as well not have dice, or is just Epic Level D&D. I would cap out most games at Legend 5, myself and 2-4 I think is where the interesting stories lie. If they are putting out 2E I'm quietly hopeful, though I got my hopes up about Exalted 3E and I was not overly impressed by the mechanical changes.

I love the flavour of both Scion and Exalted, but the more I played them the more I felt like the mechanical execution doesn't match the flavour brilliantly (worse in exalted than scion) and that they hadn't balanced quite well enough at higher 'levels' (worse in scion than exalted).

I remember this game, it was weird as heck, but I'm still sorta glad we did it - it's the kind of thing that's worth testing. I bit like that 3.5 one off we played that time to test broken concepts - the monk/druid, the spike-chain fighter and the warlock.

As far as high level play goes, I honestly think World of Darkness functions well, and I love the creativity encouraged in Mage: The Awakening. Sadly, every podcast I've heard of the system has been... cringey.
