Since one of my continuing education courses is currently forcing us to read "A Country Doctor" (I say forcing because about 80% of the class is already familiar with the text and honestly it makes no sense in the setting for this unit) this got me thinking. Why Franz Kafka?
He's far from my favorite writer of mildly to extremely existential writing, and I suppose I could see the draw of "Kafka as a tool rather than conductor" in terms of the ritual going so sideways... I just can't seem to pin a reason for Kafka as the Professor of necromancy when Carl Ferdinand Cori was in Prague in the 18-somethings to the 19-somethings (pre 1930s) and working in experiments on the human body and malignant diseases. I'm just curious if there is a deeper reason for this choice?
