OR: "Stoking the flames"
The eve of battle approaches. And understandably our team are nervous. Who can tell what the morrow will bring? The variables are many, still much that is unknown... and yet, there is resolution, there is determination despite the fear. There is passion to get things done, to end this, to put The Stranger out of commission for another few centuries. The fires are burning within them, but just how big will this conflagration get?
On a personal note, this has to be one of my favourite episodes from this season - and this has been a season of highlights for me. Just the way that it manages to twist the central statement conceit in a way that still works, similar and yet fundamentally different to the testimonies as given in MAG040 (which closed out Season 1). And every single performance was right on the button, triggering all the feels.
But the calm must break, tension must be released. The storm will rage, but who will be left to understand proceedings? Will our team come out of this intact? What casualties do you project? Who are you scared for?

De-lurking to say: everyone! I'm scared for everyone. Ugh.
A few episodes ago I just wanted to give Tim and Melanie big hugs but now... they're kinda scary. And unpredictable.
Proud of Martin for weaving a plan (#NextWebAvatarConfirmed ), but if something goes wrong and Melanie gets an opportunity to kill Elias, I'm not sure she'll hold back if even Martin gets in her way. And that's assuming Elias isn't already prepared for them.
So no safety at the Institute. And the strike team's even worse.
If Daisy and Basira make it out first I'm worried Daisy will try to blow everything sky high with the others still inside.
As for Tim, the depth of his rage and obsession didn't fully hit me until this episode. He admires Gertrude's ruthlessness? It sounds like he wants to be sacrificed. Really don't want any of them to die, but if he gets a shot at revenge and someone like Jon 'cheats' him out of it to save his life? I don't want to think about what he'll do. That vehement 'I hate you' at the tape recorder made me cringe a little. Sorry Tim! (But not sorry enough to stop listening.)
And then there's not!Gertrude and not!Leitner and Helen might show up and make things even more complicated...
I can't predict anything for the finale but calliope music and heartbreak.

Oh damn, awesome episode all around and so interesting on so many levels! Nice to finally hear what happened as Melanie was shot. Just diving into the splendidly gruesome story only to finish it off just as fast with this spiteful "and that's all you get" was great! Made me laugh quite a bit. XD Poor her, though. Elias really did a number on her! Seeing and completely knowing what the Corruption did to her father is horrible. It makes her fierceness very understandable, although I was surprised about the intensity with which this still applies to Jon too. And, as predicted earlier, Tim continues to be the most likely suspect for next Assistant-death. Mike did an awesome VA-job here, all that hate and resentment is downright palpable. Love the direct "I hate you" at Beholding! Can't wait to see whether he will bash some mannequins to pieces or not! His brother's skin could also be a dancer-suit and if he were to see that, how would he react? Rage mode? Freeze in horror? Also admitting my squeeing noises and snickering at the gossip talk without any shame! Jon's flustered try to play the talk about his sex live and Martin's possible crush down was hilarious! XD It made Martin's statement a bit more cute as well. "I need you to be okay!" AAAAAWWWW *pets* Although...knowing how good Johnny is at evil and that it's horror etc...my brain went unwanted places again. With all the talk about burning stuff and that it will hurt and having Melanie there too, I really hope Martin isn't the one to die next! Because it sounds as if they will try to burn down the Archive and that's what got Gertrude killed after all! (And on that note, nice addition of traits that destroying knowledge is painful for Team Beholding. Will be interesting to see whether Martin is able to burn anything at all, seeing how deep he's in by now.) I guess they think Elias will keep his focus trained on the Stranger-ritual destruction and is therefore less likely to watch his back, so to speak. Not sure that will be the case, though. After hearing the bit about the "Watcher's Crown", I think that's what Elias is trying to do or to become - depending on how this would look like. The strange way of tying the Archive lot to his own live would make sense if it's for a ritualistic strengthening. So, yeah, let's hope Martin doesn't run into Elias in defense mode. We know how that ends... >__<

And, as predicted earlier, Tim continues to be the most likely suspect for next Assistant-death. Tim's at the top of my 'Most Likely to Die Horribly' list too. Wish he wasn't so keen to throw himself into the fire. Also welcome back hyoscyamus ! Nice to read your posts again.
