Thought I might start a thread here for some EDH chats. Alex Newall has been getting into it a lot recently, and me and Oneiros have been playing together a long time. I happen to know spooniermist and rainbowdeity are both players as well. I share all my decklists here, if others want to share theirs, I'd be interested to see them. I've chatted to people here about house/play-group rules and such like as well, and that can be interesting. What's everyones favourite deck? And what deck are you planning to build next?

Likewise, my decks are here (including the Kruphix one that Alex has become enamoured by): deckstats.net/decks/3111/?lng=enMy favourite deck is probably my Oloro, Ageless Ascetic one but I don't get to play it very often as he's a bit of an unfair commander. Otherwise, my soft spots are for Sedris (Zombie mill) & Progenitus (Defenders & alt win cons) which are good indicators of me personally - can be fun, somewhat unwieldy and not very efficient/effective

I think my favourite deck will always be Trostani. It was the first one I built, and I enjoy playing it more than any other. Next would definitely be Karn, Silver Golem.

Yeah, I'm a bit obsessed with EDH at present. Decks that are closet to my black, withered heart are my [ Phenax of Milltiplex], being my first deck built totally from scratch. It's not perfect, but with a good hand it snowballs pretty horribly quickly with things like Consuming Abhoration. I don't really play it often enough, though, because most people who I play with really hate playing against it, and I'd rather people have a game they enjoy (contrary to popular belief). Other than that, I have a Mizzix deck which performs pretty well, but has started to turn into a kleptomania deck with cards like Blatant Thievery and Mass Mutiny. Finally managed to get Mind's Desire in there, which has yet to see play but I'm lead to believe it will be amazing when it does. I also have a Meren's Graveyard of Wonders deck, which most people hate as well because it's quite submissive, making you sacrifice creatures repeatedly or use various board wipes. This is why I love it. I also have Ayli as a commander in a Cleric-come-lifegain deck, which is hit and miss but is probably the most enjoyable of my decks to play against. And finally, my first commander deck that I made way back just before I stopped playing is a Rhys one, with tokens, tokens everywhere!

So funny that this thread restarted as I have just begun building my first ever MTG deck and it is in EDH. Commander = memnarch and your petty biological need for "fun" amuses me. We will discuss it once I turn you into a toaster.

Ive always wanted to play a bit of MTG, but have generally found it an intimidating prospect getting started. Any advice on that front?

If you have any friends who play then talk to them. Alternatively, pick up Magic Duels on Steam as it's a free-to-play slimmed down version of the game that will get you acquainted with the basic rules and gameplay.
If you're London based then I'm sure we would be happy to teach someone new - we've taught Alex in the last year or so :-)

Southampton based, unfortunately. It's not impossible to get up to London, but it does require a bit of forward planning. I've got a lot more free time these days to consider that.
