While the Rangers take a short break to cope with the aftermath of the #BrutorsFate debacle and Bertie's departure to parts unknown, we're checking in with some of the behind-the-scenes folks at Rusty Towers. After all their hard work in helping deal with the recent goblin infestation, it's only fair we let them see the light sometimes as well Joining Alex this week are: Jonny - writer and performer of The Magnus Archives, musician with The Mechanisms (@jonnywaistcoat on Twitter) Mike - editor of The Magnus Archives, YouTuber at The Happy Go-Lucky Scamps (@thehgstweets on Twitter) Martyn - webtech person extraordinaire, he who gets this all to work and stay up and running! and James (subbing in for Sophie who unfortunately couldn't make it) Also, if you could see your way to adding us to the nominations list for the People's Podcast Awards (podcastawards.com) we'd be very grateful! From Alex: "...scroll down to “Games and Hobbies” and type Rusty Quill Gaming Podcast and our URL (RustyQuill.com). Why not also vote for The Magnus Archives in the “Arts” category and nominate us for “The People’s Choice award” too while you’re there?"

Loved it. It's a brilliant idea to let the more anaemic of you out into the sunlight for a change!

As with everyone else, I liked the episode and love the fact that you are bringing people that are behind the scenes into the light. Also to shill out the forums a bit, I am running a play-by-post at the end of may and have spaces for 3 more people, if anyone wants to join, they can read the post that is there, and then message me through the forum

I've listened to this a couple of times now, and I really like it. Props to the behind the scenes guys who never usually get much of the plaudits!

It constantly amazes me how much work goes in to Rusty Quill, I basically just show up and have fun, and the big wheels of machinery turn in the background to enable everything else to take place.

It's a horrible amount of man hours to bring one fully edited episode to light. once you factor in the business development side etc.

Terrifying implications of James Ross being an in game character:
Sexual attraction is immediately obsolete throughout the in-game universe.
The James Ross character is likely to be mistaken for myriad deities in any given multiverse, it'd probably breach his equivalent of a Prime Directive.
No tea towel to be left faceless.
A massive surge in the profits of the hair care industry, which given that the setting is fictional is probably poorly regulated. Financial chaos ensues.
James Ross himself is probably a Bard. Alex has forbidden Bards played by James Ross. The Actual James Ross is vetoed by the GM.
Slightly less vodka for everyone else.
James Ross, mistaken for a god with a great line in tea towels and literally the only attractive person in the in-game universe, is adored by the masses (downtrodden and poor because of the Loreal Bubble), who lose their collective minds when he is deleted by the GM.
Infused with the misremembered sayings of James Ross, the people overthrow their rulers and proceed to set up a disguised theocracy, giving rise to a twisted and contrarian image of the Actual James Ross.
In the Second Coming of James Ross, Alex lets James Ross back in the game, Bard or not, to "FIX THIS!" Angered by the difference between their idealised James Ross and Actual James Ross the people of the in-game universe launch a meta game war against the real world.
And so Alex gathers The Crew together within the in-game universe to play a game within a game, calling forth the only thing that can stop this in-game invasion into our universe - an in-game universe invasion of their own. Just as The Crew has done countless times before, in an infinity of meta universes. As a snarky commentator on the forum points out the obvious logical fallacies, an Eternal Alex intones that "You cannot fool me, it is James Rosses - All. The way. Down", and the shot slowly fades to black.

I'm rather proud of this one.
The next one is going to be much more difficult...
