We return to the blood and heat of battle, for a tale and fear as old as time, as the reality of dealing with one's mortal coil becomes apparent. Some will go to any length for just a little more time...
Another really well researched episode and a lovely nod towards The Seventh Seal and the trope that it made pervasive. I have to admit, I'd never heard of Faro/Pharaoh as a game before this and am not surprised that it's not one readily offered in gambling houses today.
Now only time will tell whether this has any bearing on the grander story arc.

This one reminded me that I wanted to craft a magic routine that starts with: "They say you can challenge Death to a game for your life; this is how I'll beat him."
I did enjoy the relative shift from the norm for this one -- it was nice to have such a focus on folklore and gambling.

I really enjoyed this one. I feel like it left a lot open, like who guided 'death' to kill people and how many of them are there? If the soldier didn't get everyone, then surely there were other "Death" people.
Also, how many other people are immortal like this? If hundreads of thousands die every day, even if 1% try and gamble with death, that's still a lot of gambles each day.
Anyone else reminded of Michael when we heard of the soldier reaching inside people's throats? Maybe there's some link here?
