Question for the masses: I see the wiki, and many of you, thought that the voice that finishes the episode was Prentiss. I heard, however, an infested Martin. Did anyone else think that it sounded a little like Alex's dulcet tones? I'm also goanna say it was Prentis, just because I like Martin too much and I don't want him to become a worm infested minion of Janes.
also I think Jon would have had more of a reaction if he came face to face with an infested Martin, him saying "shit" sounded like "well...here's my worst nightmare just staring me in the face"

Did anyone else think that it sounded a little like Alex's dulcet tones? I heard Jane, personally. I don't think that Martin could have become that corrupted that quickly. Also, I don't think Jonathan would have said "shit" in that way if it was Martin, I think he would have been genuinely sad about his infection by the worms. Something that I don't think's been mentioned: there was talk that Jane was vomiting into some of the boxes in the archive. It's possible that she's just spreading the worms around, but I wonder if she's trying to destroy something? Like, it doesn't really make any sense for her to attack TMA, I think there's some alternate motive here. I wonder if she's trying to suppress information about the worms, or find out more information about something? It kinda leads back into wondering what she was waiting for: she clearly could have attacked earlier, was she waiting for the table to be delivered, or the zippo lighter?

I liked when Jon said "when I read these statements it feels like I'm being watched" clearly speaking about the possibility of supernatural beings targeting onto him. But I also like to think he's talking about us, we don't watch but we do listen I hadn't even thought of it like that! But I love his acknowledgement that once he starts to read the files that he starts to 'feel' it (which I think was a read that I had on his character way way back) it's one of the things I've always loved about they style of the show. I loved this week. Will be listening again (possibly to the lot) in preparation to the finale of season one. I love the character insights and the fact that I'm questioning (after reading the forum comments) if ANY OF THEM ARE THE REAL THEMS?!? *hides under the duvet to escape the worm sounds*

Another rather wonderful episode... a complete change and handled very well... I had wondered how we might break the 'fourth wall' as we were obviously going to do when the threat came to the archives itself and as others have said the conciet of having more than one tape recorder and also the beleigered archive staff in thier bloody minded way wanting to record events as they were going on so that even if they died someone may be able to learn something from the mess was very clever indeed...
The Institue is bigger than I thought though... Elias mentioning people who worked on other floors... i don't know why but I thought that it was apretty small affair with only the cast of characters that we had already met/had named in the building... am I wrong with this... did i get the wrong end of the stick?... anyhow... wonderful work!

More thoughts, since I've listened to it again. -Elias, for a man who's got enough in the basement "to send any skeptic packing" continues to pretty useless and unhelpful. I may revise my opinion if he actually manages to switch on the CO 2, however. I'm pretty sure he's being deliberately obstructive. - People have been mentioning distortions. For some reason I kept thinking of "Michael." I doubt he's going to Deux Ex Machina his way in to save the day, but it makes sense that if he did he'd probably distort audio, I suppose. Still, he seems to have a vested interest in at least stopping the worms, so I wouldn't be surprised if he shows up at some point. -This is the first time we hear for certain that Gertrude isn't actually confirmed dead - she's missing. Given that supposedly dead people keep popping up all over the place, it wouldn't honestly surprise me. spooniermist mentioned Gertrude might have been "hiding in a pot" in artifact storage but I wonder if that's not so far fetched. If you've been around for 50 years (and there's all those tunnels everywhere) then it wouldn't be hard to hide. I also remember the implication in MAG3 that there was the creepy hand thing that got into the window before Graeme was swapped - so perhaps it's not the table, it's something...attached to the table, as it were. Or perhaps the thought of a Not-Sascha running around on top of everything else is fairly terrifying. -"I see you". The inflection on this made it impossible to tell whether it was something echoing Sascha, comforting her or taunting her.

Perhaps the table and the "not-[insert name here]" people are related to Michael. Specifically, that's how those beings are able to interact with our reality? Clearly I'm just spitballing here, but since Sasha was the only one to have any contact with Michael, it would make a certain amount of sense that they were targeting her from the start as a host.

Was a little late to this but, WOW, what an episode. Major major kudos to Jon and Alex for the production and writing and everyone else for the voice acting. It was really spectacularly done! I shared Oneiors concern about the format and how it would handle such a departure but it was pulled off very well, full of tension and still some interesting nuggets of information scattered throughout! Jon's reading of the statements always kind of bothered me and his addressing of it in the episode was a great justification. Perhaps WE'RE the one's watching! (listening? OMG, ARE WE PRENTIS ) "Statement of Joe Spooky concerning siniter happenings!" - Oh Tim. Jon asking Martin if he was dead was a hilarious moment. Hey, you can't be too careful! Subtle reference to the lighter that Jon received as well, I wonder if that will come into play next week? And that table is back, trying to remember where we first heard about it but it's been mentioned numerous times now so it seems to be some sort of crux. Can't wait for the conclusion! Excellent job!

Steeleface: it seems to be the table from MAG3: Across the Steet.
Ianh: I know what you mean, but I assume that upstairs is reserved for the actual institute, not the archives, as I think they are two parts to the Magnus Institute: the archives and the Institution where they research things.

Tim is my new fave. He took his pants off, right? Glorious.
And Sasha... Sasha... My precious cinnamon roll.

Monsters can't find you when you're hiding under a duvet. Everyone knows that. *cue the episode where the opposite happens* which if it does, I'll add it to the list of things that TMA has made me never want to do again, like taking shortcuts, going into the woods, buying books in opshops, and picking up strangers in nightclubs. Kitsune Tim was really great in this episode, wasn't he? Hopefully he'd gotten dressed by the time they managed to find Jane. Or perhaps Jane found them? I'm assuming that Jane could sense them with the worms as they moved through the tunnels, and then followed them until they reached the obvious exit.

Just had a thought, which I am including since I haven't used up this week's red string: in MAG26, Michael says "how would a melody describe itself?" to "try" to explain himself to Sasha. Jane, this episode, asks "do you hear the song?" Obviously they're referring to very different songs. Competing ones? Not sure.
It's probably nothing, but then what else would I do with all of this red string?
(awkward double post).

My understanding was that TMA are the records of the wider Magnus Institute. The Leitner library being destroyed etc. gives the impression there are field operatives as well.

My understanding was that TMA are the records of the wider Magnus Institute. The Leitner library being destroyed etc. gives the impression there are field operatives as well. We know that there are three distinct "areas" for certain: artifact storage, the library (which Jonathan-the-character is rather sarcastic about in the first episode) as well as the archives, obviously. Plus all the various offices and so forth needed to run all the more practical side of things, as Coil mentions. Using my own (NZ specific) experience, an archivist and three dedicated assistants is actually pretty decent for a private archive, although IIRC Jonathan-the-character had to do some convincing. We also know there are other researchers and security guards, judging from offhand comments others have made. I'm not sure I'd think of the Institute having "Field Operatives" in the sense of, say, the SCP Foundation has. I always wondered if they get things done by outsourcing and various contacts within law enforcement etc. This is some heavy speculating on my part, though. I know there's a "Rosie" working there, although for the life of me I can't remember what she does.

I think Rosie is some kind of receptionist. She's signed for deliveries and provided Jonathan with the tape recorder.
