And so we open the doors to the Magnus Institute once again. Don't worry, we've cleaned up properly. You probably won't find any worms left. That's all been taken care of. So, after the events of last season, it's probably unsurprising that it's time for The Archivist himself to make a statement. And who can blame him if he makes it a statement of intent... Part-history lesson, part-diary and part-psych analysis of the Archivist himself, this is a very welcome start to the mystery and insight into the lines that are likely to run through this season. Plus kudos to Jonny and all who worked really hard over the season break to get this out! (And you can vote for us in the AudioVerse Drama awards where we made the final shortlist for Best New, Original, Long Form, Small Cast, Ongoing, Production by going to audioverseawards.net/site/vote/ )

Wow, that was an awesome start to season 2. I really dig the supplemental at the end and I'm looking forward to hearing more of Jonathan's theories. It'll be interesting to see how his newfound paranoia affects his relationship with Not-Sasha, and if he notices anything is wrong.

I've always really enjoyed how subtle yet effective the voice acting is in this show- the little vocal quirks used to differentiate the person giving their statement from The Archivist, and how they differ from statement to statement. Listening to the Archivist actually giving a statement of his own throws how well crafted the previous voice work has been.
Voice acting nerd rant over! Now just YELLING ABOUT THINGS IN THE TUNNELS.

ahhh the wait is over!!!! And what a superb episode it is as well!
Having done 'Mary Kings Close' in Edinburgh which is under a council building, I can understand seeing things out the corner of one's eyes. it IS very disconcerting and I don't think his paranoia is unfounded. The tunnels are intriguing... Perhaps the cleaning crew couldn't see that section of the tunnel where the worm husks were seeing as it could change its walls.
One thought lingers from the statement...Are we the new archivist and dear God what could have happened when Jonathan Sims is such a meticulous Archivist so dedicated to the truth.
I think we have a whole new set of questions and no answers yet. I will try to be patient.

Yeah, the voice acting's always been great. It's intriguing to hear the Archivist talk so long as himself. Certainly threw to light how Not Ok he is. In my own mind, aside from all the paranormal creepy, there's also a sneaking sense that there's a bit of gaslighting going on. By whom and why I can't quite put my finger on. Or, true to form, it's just the excellent writing. It's all very disconcerting.

Wow! A couple of new faces join the forum! Welcome to tohlemite and jkrockin! What a great start to the series. I tend to find with most media, the after effects of the last season's finale affect the characters but aren't investigated in anymore detail, I'm pleased to see that the Archivist is staying true to form and looking into the further mystery. I'm really interested to see where the supplementals go. I'm really sad for Jonathan. I don't think he's ever going to be okay. I'm worried that all he has to look forward to is a slide into paranoia and depression. I can't see him taking a break and getting away, or having some downtime: he just can't stop. I know some people who work non stop all week, but at least they're not working on jobs that can actively kill them. I might start a motion to send Jonathan Sims a fluffy teddy bear with the words "DEFO NO CURSED" and a short essay about how everything's cool and not to worry about the bear and it's meant to stop him going mad... But I don't think it would help. I suspect he'll still see something untoward in it and end up sticking it in the artefact storage As no one has said it yet... Link to MAG15: Lost Johns' Cave? For sure! I noticed that as well, but only because I have occasional nightmares about being in the exact situation...

no! not the "if you're listening to this, then I must be dead"
I hope that's not true, I just hope Sims found something so enlightening that he had to take his hidden tapes and spread them out to people. and its not someone going through his tapes like the police are doing to Gertrude's. part of me thinks we might get a detective's statement soon, after he's listened to some of Gertrude's tapes.
So is the second tape recorder still missing?
Sims said he believes what ever's down there is "a wall moving poltergeist", what made him think its the same being? perhaps the wall moving "thing" was luring him further, and the one who told him to leave was trying to save him. we know for a fact that not all paranormal entities they encounter want to kill them... well not very many.

So is the second tape recorder still missing? No, he's told Martin it's missing so that he can record the supplements. Not-Sasha's tape, however, is "missing".

I'm still trying to understand how we heard Sasha's tape... is that part of the future of The Magnus Institute we don't know about yet? has someone else found it, or has future Sims found it?

Also welcome to the new contributors to the forum! did you grab your complementary cork board and red string? I did indeed, complete with an armload of pins and bonus bouts of uncontrollable muttering about how "I've almost got it!" I keep trying to tie Robert Smirk down but he keeps dancing around the edges of the narrative and it's driving me nuts. This is the third(?) case his buildings have directly affected.

I also wondered that. It takes place in the present (well, a few months ago, I think), so in September of this year Jonathan was making recordings for case, so we're probably not getting them from anyone? I'm not really sure how that all works, actually, now I think about it...

Is episode 29 relavant to this statement? The wine bottle that Jonathan found had a 2003 vintage and former employee of the Magnus institute, Fiona Law, died that year after complications due to a liver transplant... did it belong to her? wikia was very helpful in finding this information ^v^

I think we've heard him mentioned three times: once that Tim likes him (can't find the case number), once where he designed the passages beneath a building (MAG35), and once in this ep (MAG41)
