New Year's Special #1 - The Holiday Heist

We kick off the RQGaming season break with a (kinda) seasonal special! rainbowdeity takes over from Alex to lead a hand-picked BlackOps team through a game of Corporation (www.corpgame.com) in a cyberpunk dystopian future where everything is retro! These skilled operatives are joined by Alice Bell (@babygotbell / http://www.videogamer.com) to infiltrate the ambassador's Swedish compound and hunt down a very specific Ferrero Rocher.

As usual, some excellent character work going on here - Alex being "pristine to the point of antiseptic" really cracked me up, Brave Sir Robin definitely seems to have taken our 'appreciation' of the accent work in RQ Specials to heart   and Lydia's combat rave ensemble proves you can combine entertaining and practical and still be stylish. Anyone care to hazard a guess as to how much of an editing headache 'Quiet Simon' is going to pose... Special applause though should probably go to Alice for agreeing to play a crowdsourced character. Things could have gone horribly wrong and, I guess, probably still could knowing the way this group usually operates...

I particularly enjoyed the final one, which seemed to vacillate between Welsh and Irish. An accent within an accent, almost. A particularly meta bit of acting.

it was supposed to be irish. i can normally do a decent irish accent, but i have to be relaxed and settle in to it. i can't really do a welsh accent, despite my parentage. two people at the table thought it was welsh too though, so clearly there was some of that.

I loved this episode! It's a really fun set up and I love setting - intensely nostalgic for the cyberpunk movies of yore. Especially the outfit descriptions. Also the revelation of who owns the chainsaw was great.

Going to get some ferrero rocher and spray my hair and enjoy the full immersive experience next week, I think.

Boy, I'm looking forward to seeing the chest cavity have some use. I had one the only time I played Corporation, and a right laugh it was too...

Just a quick note to say that Part 2 is going to be a little bit delayed, I'm afraid, but it should be out by the weekend. We don't think it's Mr Ceiling exacting a revenge from beyond the podcast...
