So, its been a while since I've been active on here, this however doesn't bare any relation to my eternal love of all things quill.
Well heres an update:
After initially signing up for the forums I got overwhelmed by work and kinda dropped off the face of the internet. I ended up working close to 80 hours a week, and spent most of my time not at work trying to sleep off the excessive work and lack of time off! this carried of for a while, until last June.
On June 21st, whilst riding my motorbike home from work, I was unfortunately involved in a fairly bad crash. having sustained 2 double displaced fractures in both wrists, a broken leg, and a whole plethora of soft tissue damage I was (needless to say) signed off work for 3 months while I underwent many operations and super fun physio. This, in the long term, probably helped me to realise I was working too much and not taking enough time for me! in December, after a short time back at work, I handed in my notice and took the chance to have my first Christmas off work in 6 years.
now, another 2 surgeries under my proverbial belt, I am finally on the final stretch of recovery road- just lots of physio on all the joints and I should be right as rain (or however close I will ever get at least).
Along with all this recovery I am in the process of finding a job, which is a pain in the butt, however I'm trying none the less!
During my time off in (and out) of the hospital I relied on many things to keep me entertained. forgoing the use of hands (surprisingly you don't realise how often you use them in daily tasks) I had to rely on YouTube and podcasts to keep me entertained, so here's a list of (some of) the fun things that I watched/listened too:
Rusty Quill Gaming:
An obvious choice, but I restarted from the beginning again, and Enjoyed it all just as much on the second listening
Critical role season 1:
A thorough recommendation! available both on YouTube and in podcast form (hosted and distributed by Geek & Sundry), each episode averaging around 3-4 hours and season 1 being comprised of 115 episodes, Critical role is a recorded live game of D&D 5e hosted by Matt Mercer, and staring a cast of other voice actors, CR is one of the most beloved D&D shows on the internet!
Drawfee:
A YouTube channel that I discovered whilst in the hospital, Drawfee brings together the graphic artists of college humour and allows them to go wild! I'd thoroughly recommend any of their Pokemon episodes (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoal_hpPIPAnWlG-kWHLheA)
SWNCBC; the star wars new cannon book club:
Admittedly a much more niche podcast, hosted by Jesse Cox, Alex Faciane, and Michael Davis; these three go in depth into books/tv shows/films and all other new cannon star wars products, giving there thoughts and plot analysis to all the story points. Very good!
so that's that, I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with this, just thought I'd decide to through a mind splurge out there!
Peace out nerds,
