"Hamid's not being impetuous!" says the man who just fired a magic missile at his dad's feet. Baby steps, I suppose. Props to him for stealthing well; I am now picturing Sasha only half-listening to his recap of the situation until he says that he snuck into a bank office, at which point she's listening in rapt attention at his feet.
I can see the ghost of good intentions in Saleh (senior) falling on the sword, but even beyond the whole 'this is not how you raise responsible children' thing I am just shaking my head at what a bad idea it is. Yeah, you can probably buy your way out of a certain amount of scandal, but what's it going to do to the family business as a whole when it gets out that the head of the household tried to rob one of its clients? (I am being cynical and assuming the people they do business with are going to care far less about the 'and killed someone who wasn't rich' part.) I'd guess it's going to be worse than 'his kid did a thing; it's being Dealt With.'
On a lighter note -- and bless those lighter notes! -- the comparison between Bertie and Azu re: their relationships to tables was the high point of my cackling this week. Is Azu proficient in Handle Furniture? I also appreciated the quiche callback; my friend who's listening for the first time recently got to that episode and he's been randomly texting 'keeeeeeesh' at me for days.

I totally understand your friend. After I listened to that episode I met a friend of mine who does not listen to the Podcast and blurted out ' keeeeeeesh' and then had to explain it all to her.

Also enjoying and agreeing with the Hamid psychoanalysis in this thread. Will be very interesting to hear what people think of how this develops in the next few episodes... I hope for Hamid that he either can live with a disfunctional Family or that his father finds out that his way is not the "right" way to teach his children valuable lessons for life. The latter will be especially important for the youngest brothers. And I hope that Hamid has grown up enough to tell his father why he is wrong. I want him to show his dad he too has leverage and ways to solve issues - by revealing the cloak, and asking to meet with his "family member".

I don't know if revealing the cloak would count as leverage. It may complicate matters more than solve them. But I have to agree, Hamid certainly has ways to solve issues on his own by now and he has shown this many times throughout the campaign.

I also really want him to throw this secret into his father's face, but it would not solve any Trouble.

Anyone else think his father is doing this because he already knows? #HamidsDaddyIssues

I think even if he knows about one of their ancestors being a meritocrat, there's still a chance he's unaware of Hamid being a sorcerer.
From what Hamid has said it seems that sorcerers are not supposed to show after more than a couple of generations, so unless Hamid's understanding is completely off, that may still be a surprise.

It was said that no known examples of meritocracy and mortals having "relations" exists. So the chances are Hamid isn't as rare in his family as they think. Again, so many Daddy issues.

"Hamid's not being impetuous!" says the man who just fired a magic missile at his dad's feet. I'll go with not impetuous on this one. Sometimes even in the best therapeutic conditions there are perfectly legitimate reasons to throw in a monkey wrench to prevent a person from making a vastly self (or others) harming decision. Hamid can't exactly place his father on a 72 hour hold and somehow I doubt his father would be open to calling in a legal team to discuss in depth the best way to handle this quietly. But still, Hamid has the right as an adult to express his displeasure in a non-lethal way. And it was pointedly non-lethal.
