Swarms, why did it have to be swarms?
This episode was really tense and atmospheric when we were playing it. The dark drippy basement with bad lighting was very cool. I don't know if it came across the same when listening, what did you guys think?

Ouch, swarms at level 2. This is why Alchemist's Fire is a cornerstone of the low level adventurer's equipment. Thankfully, it was not of a size that is strictly immune to melee attacks. Also, Alex did a great job with the atmosphere. I've been in horror themed campaigns a few times but my DMs rarely manage to take the atmosphere up a notch. Of course, the two most notable instances of horror-ish games I've been in are the magipunk game where I played a mech pilot and the run my friends and I did on Carrion Crown where I played Old Man Bespoke. I suppose I might have contributed to the collapse of the atmosphere by playing hideously competent combatants who tend to have things like a machine designed to murder everything or a mountain of hit points and what was functionally immunity to fear.
In my opinion one of the best ways to scare a party is take them out of their comfort zones. The party had not really entered hostile territory blind up until this point. All of the previous encounters had been short sections of combat in open areas or buildings that could be reconned and had easily guessable floor plans. Shaking up the paradigm is always a great way to ratchet up the tension some.

I loved the atmosphere this week! and I really liked/-appreciated that Alex explained that the best way To deal with swarms is to disperse yourselves, (I wasn't quite sure of how much to help my players out with certain things when we played) but how, HOW can you end on a Brutor cliffhanger like that? That's the most tense thing of them all. Please don't have a 2 minute upload next week!

Sneak preview of next week's episode: I go on and on about how useful fireball would be and I how I'll have it level 3. I am very wrong. That takes up about 35 minutes. The other twenty minutes are us mourning Brutor before our own swift deaths.
I'm really glad the atmosphere came across, it was such a fun episode to record.

As a heads up miss Nash, I generally offer advice if the encounter runs a significant chance wiping out the whole party. And let me tell you , things are going to get a lot worse before they get better...

I'd just like to say the sound FX on this episode were particularly disconcerting (and atmospheric).
I hate swarms too - was definitely bracing myself for it to be spiders and very thankful when it wasn't.

I didn't quite grasp whether the swarm came out of the acid-splashed mushroom, or whether it had been roaming around independently. Seemed like the latter, under which assumption I enjoyed the contrast between the totally helpless and pathetic giant mushroom and the horribly effective swarm. If it was the former, I will be sure to remember never to add any vinegar or citric acids to any dish containing mushrooms.

Ha! I am pretty sure it was indeed the latter, but perhaps Alex Newall was attempting to imply something different.

It was the latter. Nothing like the death of an innocent mushroom that was merely startled to summon some nasties.

Hence the Joe-ker email address. I appreciate the attempts. I think that's going to be my new nickname for him now!
