Hello Rusty Quillers!
I am currently DM'ing my first game with some friends, which has taken a bit of a back seat due to annoying things like life getting in the way *Shakes fist*
but during Christmas I plan on doing a marathon game with my friends when were all together during the holidays.
I would love to do a Christmas themed quest and would love to hear some of your guys suggestions for anything, currently the only thing the group has done is beat up some pick pockets, make friends with a walking tree, meet a pretty dumb dragon who thought the Halfling in the team was adorable and spent an entire session playing with him while the other 2 attempt to get their friend back, and find a mystery dragon soul orb thingy. so not too far into my planned storyline.
but for Christmas I'd love to do something completely away from my storyline and just have some fun, so I would love to hear what you guys could come up with.
thanks guys!
Sam

Have the walking tree introduce them to his show-off fir tree friend who covers himself in lights and baubles! They're sent into the woods on a quest to find ingredients for a wizard to make magic mulled wine! Make them fight the Grinch!

Have them deliver a bunch of presents to children? Opposed by terrible weather, long distances and errrr.... dire geese?

I like the idea of more walking trees decorating themselves. and one of the characters is a definite alcoholic so will love the mulled wine!
also I cant get the idea of them fighting a bunch of miffed geese out of my head! I love it!

Loads of elves. Cutesy, festively dressed elves. With tiny cutesy festive daggers. All of them answering only to the Dread Lord Xantar, whose thirst for human sacrifice is eternally unquenchable.
A captivating magical orb covered in glitter that drains money the longer you stare at it.
Free a (formerly) nomadic tribe of Jacks who have been cruelly placed in boxes and forced to jump out of said boxes.

1. The PCs come across an elderly man, shunned by his village, who is being tormented by 3 spirits (of past, present and future) which have to be placated.
2. Someone is leaving wrapped up pieces of coal on the doorsteps of family homes - lumps which have a michievous imp bound to them. The minor mischiefs are now becoming a nuisance but no-one know who is sending the coal or why...
3. A village herbalist/druid is baffled as to why their potions and remedies are causing inappropriate romantic behaviours to occur, until they trace it back to some mysteriously enchanted mistletoe.

You're the best at weird plots.

Switch out usual RPG things with more Christmasy things?
- Candycanes for swords - Maces made of clumps of holly - GIANT reindeer instead of dragons etc - The Grinch
Maybe some evil mage has given the party a task to destroy Christmas if you wanted to switch it up?

We have our own Christmas special coming up soon. You can see what we did with Christmas ideas in it. I will say no more, as I don't want to spoil anything.

Thought I'd post on here all quietly-like under 'themed' RPG games!
I'm hosting my second (second!) session this weekend - we got to a point where the adventurers made it (relatively safely) through to a nearby town and I was thinking about maybe doing something small and... er... 'valentines-y' - there were such great suggestions for Christmas campaign ideas, I was wondering if there was any left over inspiration for some more fun... Was thinking bloody hearts left by a secret admire was a bit too obvious!?

Evil sniper Cupid forcing people into pairing using magic arrows?

How about:
1) Rather than the bloody hearts/secret admirer... local hunters are grumbling that their efforts are being thwarted, not by animals being scared off but by being already dead when they come across them. And the hearts have been removed leaving the rest behind. The PCs investigate and find makeshift altars/shrines in the deep woods all bearing the rough symbol of the local deity of love and the excised hearts. Is this the work of some lovelorn person/creature or is there something more...
2) A sudden blight has struck the local crop of prized roses/flowers of choice which they find out is the work of a jilted/spurned druid (or maybe one whose beloved has passed away).
3) A lovestruck young person enlists their help in an effort to look more brave/dashing/romantic in the eyes of their desired partner. The PCs have to maybe dissuade them from a very dangerous 'quest' and help them find a more appropriate way to show their affections.
4) A local dancer is trying to revive their career by crafting the 'Ultimate Dance of Love' and needs help venturing into the wilds to try and observe the mating ritual of a particularly dangerous creature in a bid for inspiration.
