As mentioned in the "Any recommendations?" thread, this is the variant Deck of Many Things that I have used in several of my campaigns. I forget exactly where I got the base mechanics, unfortunately, but the glove/repeated use aspect is my own addition. I'm including the backstory I wrote, although it's pretty specific to the Forgotten Realms setting. Full text is here: Info - Erevans Deck.doc (51 KB) If you can't read the attachment, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I remember the one campaign I played where it turned up the other characters didn't even let me know it existed. I was playing a very childish character, who would almost always act before thinking. They were much more sensible than me.

Ooooooh, more things to happen in deck of many things. I must admit that I do like the deck of many things even though I am usually reluctant in drawing from it. The nature of the glove meaning that the curse/benefit lasts 24 hours only actually interests me though. I may attempt to Impliment it in a future game, instead of a traditional deck of many things.

Yeah, the problem I've often seen with the Deck of Many Things is that people are very adverse to actually using it. By adding the glove, it gave incentive for the artifact to be used and could be used as an ongoing story point.

Well, you *were* playing a lightning genasi, so it goes with the territory and kudos for playing it so well :-) IIRC that's also the campaign where one of you ended up with a Staff of the Time Lords.

I do not remember that. Maybe they hid that from me too. I do remember accumulating pets including a magic flying elvish kitten, a baby blue dragon and a sentient ball lightning called "sparky". Good times.
