So much fun in this episode!
Sasha bonding with a policeman. Zolf becoming a fanboy of Harrison Campbell. Bertie teaching Brutor how to be people. Hamid getting to be "Magic!".

And Alex adding another to the roster of interesting/delightful NPCs. For all that this is a Zolf-centric set of eps , I can't help but feel that Sasha is stealing the show some adorably fantastic RP. That said, Zolf's breathy exclamation of "Jennifer!" was a true delight.

I think it's right that Zolf gets some love - I feel like I'm getting to know him a bit more than I did and his back story is really starting to intrigue me. I'm even considering listening back through the archive to see if I've missed any little threads.
Every scene made me giggle in this episode though and I'm fairly certain I know the Commander in real life!

When running campaigns I always think it's important to shift the limelight rather than try to juggle the whole party. Also Zolf is the most taciturn character ever. All his backstory is dragged out kicking and screaming.

It's worked out well with Zolf, holding his time in the limelight back a bit. It seems to make the revelations we get about his character more shocking. I was somewhat taken aback when I found out he drowned people as a religious offering, but that was ages ago and is usually not directly referred to. It was still surprising that he was technically AWOL.
Like I say, maybe I should go back to the earliest episodes and see if I can't mine them for some intrigue...

I think the shifting limelight strategy is a good one - particularly when characters have deep/rich backstories. That way all the PCs can get involved and actually feel like they're getting to know each other/helping out a friend or ally. I have seen the problem, however, where the character refuses to relinquish sole agency in 'their' plotline and it wasn't pretty. Thankfully, I don't see that happening here. Also, very glad to get some revelations about Zolf although the abrupt shutdown over his ring back in the tailor's shop seems to have set the precedence that inquiring into his past leads to trouble. I'm not surprised that he was a pirate or in the Navy - but I am surprised that he was *both* and apparently willingly. Although I'm suspecting that 'apparently' should be heavily italicised.

I love how expanding on some characters back-stories like Zolf are playing the long game, it's really compelling story-telling, and works so well for a podcast. Love these RP episodes. Some of the funniest character conversations, one-lines and world building yet. I thought I was over my snorting-coffee-through-laughing-phase but clearly not when it came to "Jennifer no!"
Brilliant! xX

It's been really interesting finding this stuff out as a player as well. I know we've all written complex backstories - but we haven't shared any of them, I'm really enjoying that we slowly seeing the shape of some of these things emerge naturally. I feel like it's become a really solid group of characters and each of us gets to do some good stuff in every episode whilst the central character in each episode stays varied.

Oh my god. Can the Romantic novels be a spin-off section?!

Oh my god. Can the Romantic novels be a spin-off section?! Brutor got to stay. So does Jennifer? Oooo! Or will it be a weird little addiction of Zolf's now? Where when alone or in bed he's compelled to read 'just a chapter more...' And a side quest to meet the author to sign his precious copies!?

Oh, beyond the Zolf love this far I really loved your 'magic' too. Hamid is so damn classy! I think I've fallen in love with prestidigitation, it's so useful and versatile.

It's only useful as long as the GM rules it was useless.

It's only useful as long as the GM rules it was useless. I'm listening to an older episode (when the party are entering Other London for the first time), and as I read that you said in the podcast "I'm letting you stretch prestidigitation about as faaaar as it will go" to Bryn as he dirtied himself up with it. The synchronicity is astounding.
