Thankfully goblins in the walls haven't quite prevented us from releasing something this week!
Hopefully, even though it was recorded a while back, you can see how some of the principles have been applied to Sasha.
Thoughts and feedback on this class-type metacast gratefully received - did it work? Do you want more of these?
Also, who are your favourite rogues that you've played or come across?

Loved the metacast, have always wanted to play roguish characters, but the rogue feats have always put me off slightly. Just a few questions though: Alex always mentions the rogue log but I can't find it's stats anywhere, does anyone actually know them. Also Ben mentioned the nanowire handcuffs from another RPG, and I was just wondering what they were from, finally I have always wondered whether it was worth playing a fully ranged rogue (mainly with short bow) or if other classes are better at that sort of thing. Other than those questions, this was a brilliant idea, and I would like to see similar ideas for the other main classes in the future.

Hopefully Alex Newall and rainbowdeity can answer their respective questions. As for the ranged rogue, it's doable. I've done it with throwing knives. Your main problem is that you often lose out on the flanking part to get your sneak attack damage. So you'll need to invest in things to make you quicker than opponent so that you can act before them in combat / are just sneakier so that they are denied their Dex - Improved Initiative and invisibility/darkness/blinding/stunning items are key. I think there's also a way to do ranged feinting but I'm not au fait with the latest rules.

I loved this 'cast. Rogues get a lot of bad press from power gamers and munchkins but they really are a lot more fun to roleplay - the combat puzzle that Alex talks about a lot requires you to be thinking in those terms even in the non-combat parts of the game. I feel rogues offer a more pure role playing experience.
Saying that I could be talking out the wrong end as I've never actually played a rogue... (Yet! My fighter character in a 3.5 piratey themed game is about to take levels in rogue so I can go for the dread pirate prestige class further on down the line)

Whoa whoa whoa! Suddenly I have been ousted as the official post-episode thread creator. Up with this I will not put!
...
*considers taking some actions*
*sounds like effort*
...
Ok. Maybe I will. But, I make one condition. When you post after an episode, the post cannot have the same title as the actual episode. It's like you have no respect for the enormous amount of effort I made in finding different moments in the episode/jokes/references to use for the title other than what Alex had already used.
To get back on topic; It's a bit weird that we recorded this so long ago. We knew it might not go out immediately, so we tried to be quite general in what we discussed, but I don't know how well we did that. There's a lot of talk about the current state of characters - which is now quite out of date.
I have played very few rogues. I always seem to end up in one of the other archetypes, though I've played a couple here and there. I've always thought it would be really interesting to run a game where every character had some levels in rogue. And the whole challenge was to accomplish things stealthily, as head on conflict resolution was likely to go badly.

My flatmate once played a game where the party was entirely halfling rogues except for a dwarf who was also a rogue. Apparently it went exceedingly well and only died out due to unwieldy PC levels. His character could teleport anywhere he could visualise and was incredibly bad at fighting but excessively lucky - he could crit almost every time he rolled and killed almost everyone outright. I'm told his favourite "attack" was to whoops-butterfingers fumble his knife only to have it bounce exactly right to skewer his opponent in the eye.

You're right - I should have titled the thread "Rogue Builders". Stupid hindsight and your missed opportunities for puns.

It's from the quite excellent Corporation RPG by James Norbury (previously published by Mongoose). I've mentioned it a couple of times on here/in the podcast I think. Over the top cyberpunk super soldier shenanigans. Woudl definitely be something I'd like to run for RQ in some form at some point.

If you like the look of it I'd recommend picking up Machines of War and Eastern Bank for the extra equipment, trainings and the introduction of metahumans. The rest of the source books are all really fun, but not at all necessary for a great game.
