Something the cast felt whilst listening back to these episodes is that we may not have done combat very well. We have a battle map and figures in front of us to represent everything, and it's easy for us to forget that you guys can't see it. There's more combat coming up in a few weeks time, and we worked hard to improve how it comes across aurally. Any thoughts on combat from the listener side? Do you like it / not like it? What could make it better?

I think as everyone gets more familiar with the rules, it will sort itself out: instead of saying to someone: "Please roll to hit" "I rolled 13" "Add your mod" "+2...so 15" "you hit. Roll damage" etc you'll get a lot more slick. You can let players know what they need to hit then it will take seconds to roll, determine hit/miss then call damage.
The only problem is that if you become too slick, you're in danger of losing the commentary, camaraderie and perhaps even the fun. Oh, and the puns (and anti-puns relying on associating a piano as an object with its literal meaning of soft).
A couple of photos(or better, illustrations) of the combat scene to reference would be helpful.

yeah, it'll be interesting to see how different the combat in episode 10 is for example.
we definitely want to do some photos of our battle maps, hopefully we can get that sorted.

I have the set up photos from the last recording session. Unfortunately my stupid phone makes a stupid noise when I turn the camera on, so taking blow by blow pictures may a bit disruptive - but yeah, we definitely need to work out a way to do it. I'm sure Alex will be fine with us suspending a video camera from the ceiling right?

I am hoping to get some round-by-round photos up and on the site eventually, once we get a chance but we'll need to do some more website jiggery pokery and right now I only have three hands.
My secret hope is once we get enough visual artists on board get a couple of illustrations per episode but that's a long way off.
