Well, after much to-do, the Rangers have finally made it to Calais! *cue much cheering and sighs of relief*
Now we'll get to see just how much damage Bertie can do Power Attacking the entente cordiale and whether Hamid is capable of heading off an international Incident. Will we add Sandra and Doris to the growing list of beloved NPCs?
Let us know what you think of this conclusion to a epic journey across the English Channel - and reflect that this is just the *start* of their travels. Prague, Japan and Svalbard are all on the list as well...

My god, you just reminded me that they need to go to all of these places. As well as needing to get to Paris, and Damascus, and Cario. All of which will probably go worse than this, since hardly any of them speak the language at least. Other than that, loved the fact that Sasha speaks 'gang french' and people can sort of understand her with it, and that Bertie was basically held in one place to determine whether he was a sea monster or not, he must be fuming about the channel mud hardening in and on his armour. Am also still pondering some storyline stuff, both for this and in my own campaign (still can have 2 more people) that might occur and has occurred. Brilliant episode as always.

I hate to be a naysayer, but this was the first episode in a while that I wasn't happy with. And I can't quite figure out why. I think the several before it were great, and we have some brilliant ones coming up too - but something about this episode didn't quite click for me. I'm wondering if I just wasn't feeling well when we recorded it - did I say less than normal? As always, but even more so than usual, I think Alex Newall did an amazing job with the editing? The soundscaping was truly fantastic, and remains the most impressive part of our podcast imo. Also, good job on the thread title, Oneiros.

I noticed that you said less than usual, but I also noticed that the action wasn't particularly centered around you. Bertie was focused on because he was away from the group, and Zolf and Sasha were focused on more than you because they crashed midway through traveling to Calais. The main things I remember you doing in the episode were talking to the incredibly drunk women, saying that that Zolf had found his trident and then arriving at the best hotel in Calais, none of these were really parts that you actually spoke a lot in. But the fact that you mentioned this did make the episode seem a little odd.

Yeah, listening again there are some really great bits in this episode. Bertie shouting his way out of every situation, and Sasha's car-based excitement are great. I think it's very likely I was just feeling a bit rubbish during recording and didn't have enough to say. Probably should have contributed more to be honest, maybe that's why I don't like it - because I feel like I didn't do my part for this episode.

Proper job on the audio in this episode guys. The last few episodes have been very good but it was top notch here.
I think the only thing that makes me a little sad about this is that it feels like the ending of Zolf's mini arc. I've really rather grown fond of the quirky and warm dude under that gruff wind swept man of the world image I saw in earlier episodes. And that's only passing, because leaving that arc behind means we get to have more.

Also, good job on the thread title, Oneiros . Thank you! And whilst you may not have done a lot in this ep, I think the muted response was very appropriate - Hamid is understandably feeling a bit down after a section where he was out of his depth (sorry ) and a bit of a liability/had little effective to contribute. Actually his last line ("After you.") and gesture to Bertie at the end, I think was quite powerful. Not least because it then inspired this thread title - I'd been struggling to come up with something that appropriately linked the two strands

Now that's it's mentioned, Hamid was certainly less present this week, but really because his journey was the most successful (?) and I agree. Allowing Bertie to enter before him in the Hotel (does that mean Bertie won the bet??) was a really nice touch - and says a lot about his character. Hope you're feeling better Brave Sir Robin ! X

Definitely think everyone's in for a treat with the Paris arc, some very strong episodes (from everyone) have been recorded... at least in my opinion
