I have always been fascinated by the gap between what people are like as a person and what they write.

Kudos for the use of 'untrammeled' there!

This was one of my favourite episodes (and I'm back properly! Sorry I have't posted on a while!) this one had me captivated and terrified as the lights down the street started going out. Brilliant storytelling. X

Ok just re-listened to this because I had a hunch about something from the most recent Archive (MAG 21), I was wrong so no worries about that.
BUT!
Something I didn't notice first time listening, Simms speaks about Maxwell Raynor (sp?) and how the name is familiar to him because of statement #1106922... looking back at all the current released Archives, none of them have the number 1106922. does this mean we have an Archive on its way that will tell us more about the cult leader, defrocked minister Maxwell Raynor?
EXCITING!

I got the feeling that Sims was referring to a specific case he'd investigated prior to becoming head archivist - something about the way he says Raynor screams "unsolved, and bitter about it", like its a personal failure. If so, of course he knows the number (by heart, seewutididthar?) and refers to the case by its number.
The Leitner books on the other hand seem to be something that's less personal and more of a common fear of the institute.

What was your hunch, Samanthae? Well after them speaking about Simon Fairchild I thought I might go back and listen to a couple of episodes just to check if that name comes up and I just missed it. I remember this one having a guy ring on the phone, I thought it might have been this "Simon" guy.
Now listening, the bloke on the phone said his name was "Detective Raynor", obviously Maxwell Raynor from the cult. Still could be the same bloke but now listening I'm not sure.

The Archivist may have made a slight mistake when reading the case number, and it is in face case 9220611 (Ep.7) he was referring to, not 1106922. Sorry - the recording was done before I'd fully finalised the numbering system!

'Tis no problem - you don't put together an intricate web of information stitching together seemingly disparate spooky stories without occasionally getting a long string of numbers wrong. Always better to highlight it so I can figure out a neat(ish) way to resolve it.
