Good day! I must say that I was rather pleased to hear James will be performing at Edinburgh Fringe this year, and I'm also intrigued by Casual Violence, though sadly I'm not certain I'm there on the dates they're performing. It'll be me first time at Fringe, is there any particular thing people would recommend?
Side note - watched some of James' stand up on YouTube; bloody hilarious

James is an excellent curator of comedy as well as an excellent comic. I won't be at the fringe this year, but I often rely on James' recommendations. I'll see if I can get him to come on here and provide some.

Sad times you can't make it to Casual VIolence's show. The lead writer , James Hamilton, has a solo show called "James Hamilton is so lonely" which runs all month. That might be worth watching.
I always recommend a group called The Mechanisms. Sci fi/folk/blues, sci fi, narrative cabaret. Its great. In fact I am trying my darndest to get them involved in Rusty Quill in some way so that should show how much I think of them. They are up for the whole fringe.
I think "the Dark room" is up again. If it is, see it. The guy who runs it is brilliant and also hilarious. Its a choose you own adventure in the style of the old text based games but run live with the audience as the player. Its brill.
For sketch comedy (other than Casual Violence) its always worth checking out "the Beta Males" if they are up. Also they each do solo shows. If you like Rusty Quill you'll definitely like "StoryBeast".
Anything with Paul Foxcroft in, I have performed with him before (lovely man) and he is easily one of the best improv performers in the country right now. Also ostentatious if they are up there. (Sneaky spoiler, I am already speaking with StoryBeast and Foxcroft about appearing on the show.
Also "Max and Ivan" and "The Pyjama men".
Finally there is a theatre company called "Les Enfants Terribles." If you want to watch top notch theatre that isn't funny I cant recommend them highly enough.
Honestly there is so much out there. I'll try and get hold of Mr Ross and see what he will recommend.

Sorry I'm so late to this party! I would second all of the comedy recommendations previous to this - afraid I have no straight theatre knowledge to speak of. My show is on at 1645 at Globe Bar on Niddry St (not Wednesdays): tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/james-ross-leopardopteraIt's a pay-what-you-like show. Lovely to see you if you can make it! If you nobble me after the show I can almost certainly point you at a load of recommendations depending on the sort of thing you're after. I would particularly recommend RQ fans check out geeky musical double-act Jollyboat.

I forgot Jollyboat! I am a bad man. Watch their shows (plural, they have two.) You shan't regret it.

So many shows, such tragically little time! I'll have to go for longer next year. Thanks for all the recommendations!

Saw James Ross' Leopardoptera at Ed Fringe this year. Hilarious stuff.

Glad you liked it. I find him much funnier when I don't need to coerce him along a plot.
