The advent of Season 2 is almost upon us as the London Rangers are still working on their name whilst they start gearing up for new adventures in their world-spanning quest to investigate the Simulacrum on behalf of the British Meritocratic forces. So why not refresh your memories with the first of this two part recap of their antics to date. The group remind us of how Zolf set up the group, the fateful announcement from Thomas Edison, messy recoveries, a trip through Other London, meeting the two most obviously important characters in the show (Grag and Brutor), the invention of eel keeeesh, the recovery of the notebook, the group's hiring by Lady Starling and finding out about the 6 clues... Oh and Oscar Wilde turns up as well So, as the party and Alex reminisce about those heady early days of the Rangers, what were your stand-out memories of the party's deeds of derring-do or derring-didn't?

I'm just going to be the first to say it, so I can get it out of the way: I miss Lydia. Like, a lot. I hadn't realized how much her voice and personality made the show for me. I imagine it would be the same for any of them (I missed James when Bertie was out having guilty crushes on idiot clerics), but uuuuuuuugh I really missed Lydia in this. The jokes she would have made!!
Also, can I just say that I thought I wouldn't need a catch-up since I'd only just binged it, but that I'd already forgotten about Zolf's ring? If Zolf turns out to be secret royalty and/or Sasha's cousin, I'm going to laugh my butt off. Or maybe the ring isn't a secret, because Zolf totally knows why he has it, he just isn't telling. Hmmm. I'm also really excited for Hamid's secrets, because I had thought the "dropped out of university and cut off by parents" thing was just kind of all of it. Well, and the dragon thing, but Hamid doesn't exactly know about the dragon thing.
Speaking of, why wouldn't his parents know about the dragon thing? Who doesn't tell their kid that they might turn into a dragon? ... Is sorcery a recessive trait? [gasp] Is Hamid adopted?
On the other hand, you have Bertie, and his presumed open book of a backstory. Does he have any lurking shadows other than the huge debt hanging over his head? Does Sasha have secrets from her time as a ward of her uncle that she's hiding. Ahhhhhh, season two is going to be so good! I've already forgotten where they're going next, now that they've thoroughly destroyed Paris, but they'll probably remind us at the end of the recap.

Woooo! Season 2 hype!
Does this mean the next season will be in a fortnight's time? That is both exciting and a little daunting as I'd hoped to re-listen to all the podcasts before. If only there was some sort of recap...

It was great to have a catch-up. A lot happened in that last season and I was panicking a bit because I listened to the beginning a long time ago. Can't wait to see what happens next.
I've got a soft spot for Wilde. I'll be very pleased if the Dooooooom train driver turns up again as well.

My biggest question from season one: why is it Mendeleev? Shouldn't it have been Mendel?

It's basically an ongoing discussion. As far as I can tell it's a typo that stuck. Truth be told, this recap process just proved to me how much passed the players by. I do fret sometimes as I have left hooks in season 1 which won't pay off till season 3 etc.

I do fret sometimes as I have left hooks in season 1 which won't pay off till season 3 etc. Players always miss things - I've lost track of the number of hooks, references and extra details I've seeded in campaigns only to have PCs waltz straight by them
