...or Enemies: Gnome More So we see what happens when RNG meets High Evasion, Low Attack and spend the best part of an hour advancing less than a minute in game. Good thing there were time skips in the last episode... And now the Rangers find themselves in the thick of the action, going up against La Gourmande's forces directly as they seemingly want Oscar Wilde out of the picture. I'm guessing there was some degree of temptation by at least 3 party members to let them just take him Some very nice touches here as Hamid gets a bit more hot-headed in his application of fire, nicely stoked by his frustration with Wilde and yet still has the empathy to cast Mage Armor on their handler. And the question of whether they will leave Paris or stay to help out, is yet to be resolved...

After binge listening to RQG since the beginning of May, I have /finally/ caught up! It's hard not being able to just play the next episode straight away ... Two gnomes in a greatcoat is basically the same as three kids trenchcoat, right? I never realised how hard gnomes were to hit! I had a schema in my head of them being just small magical dwarves, but they're so much more. Bertie is getting /nasty/! I remember a while back, earlier on in S1, James said he was frustrated that people just loved Bertie, and didn't love-to-hate him. Since then he's really taken the characterisation of his bigtory+ to a new level, culminating in these actions towards the gnomes! Also, I've been lurking on these forums for a little bit, and I'm afraid they've planted the idea of shipping Zolf and Hamed, and it has just taken root (much like a tanglefoot bag in a pair of sea legs?). So when Ben joked that Zolf had decided to kill Hamed because of the burny deadly fire, it's like "ouch! Hamed just wants to take care of the angry sad sea dwarf". (Also leninmeringuepie.tumblr.com/post/161803007360/missveils ??) Looking forward to next week! Is it weekly or fortnightly now?

Looking forward to next week! Is it weekly or fortnightly now? Still fortnightly for the moment but we're working hard to try and make it weekly again.

Excellent thread title, good work. So much fun to finally get to do some hardcore pew, pew. One of the most fun bits of playing a sorcerer.

Not a lot of character work this session, but after the emotional bombing that was the last two episodes, I can't fault Alex or the group for wanting to get back to their usual "let's whack things with sticks until they fall over!" play.
Scorching ray was amazing! And Hamid's knack for flame confirmed my headcanon (haha!), so I was 100% for Hamid deciding to DPS. When he almost took that guy out with one hit, I may have screamed a bit. I love deep, emphatic Hamid, you know I do, but I did truly miss Hamid's pride and fire, and I was really excited to see where it went-- I honestly thought it would be centered at Wilde, though, not frying new enemies with a glance. The high was the saucy, "the sorcerer's here, boys!!" I really appreciated Bryn's extra bit of sauciness, it added a good countermeasure to the rest of the party.
The rest of the party seemed to take it as if they were fighting by numbers, now-- I suppose the dice rolls made the enemies a bit less formidable than they could have been, but Sasha in particular seemed to be saying, "I'm fighting two gnomes in a trenchcoat hired by the French mob? Huh, must be a Tuesday." Honestly, what could possibly phase them after facing off against Mr. Ceiling?
(Don't answer that any time soon, Alex. I'm scared.)
Sasha did have one excellent moment, though! She blew the heck out of that car and those gnomes! Heck yeah! Sasha Racket for the next John McClane! Put that lady in a building and have her beat up some terrorist-thieves; That's a movie I would watch all day. I wish we got to see Lydia be more creative with her move set, because those moments are amazing, but I'm sure once the action picks up, so will Sasha's spotlight moments. Who can forget the altercation in the catacombs?
Zolf almost played comic relief this episode, which sounds kind've awful of me to say, but... It's not as if he could do much, tridentless and armourless as he was! Plus, there was just something hilarious about Zolf sauntering around the battlefield, leaning casually against spears stuck into invisible gnomes and trying out his new sea legs.
Bertie....... Bertie was as he always is, racist and awful. But also hilarious, in a "wow, I really hope I never meet anyone like you again in my entire life," way.
I can't wait to see the culmination of this battle, and maybe get some answers about what the gnomes really want with Wilde. I mean, I know it probably has something to do with their employer seeing through Wilde's cover now that he's been Seen with the London Rangers, and they Want Him to Answer Questions, but what questions? Is this all just fallout from Mr. Ceiling?
In terms of the metafiction, I can hardly believe we're still in France, and we've only looked into one lead about the Simulacrum. If this arc is really this long, and it's only the second of the series, I can hardly think what that means for the rest of the locations. Are we going to spend this much time following what happens in the aftermath of whatever the team finds in Japan, as well? I'm not complaining, but that would mean this campaign is huge. Taking down the mob could mean an arc of its own, and that would mean two arcs for every clue location. That's eight arcs in total, I believe, not including London and ignoring the possibility that they might take breaks along their journey, like they did in Dover.
Oh my god, Alex, how do you even have that much room in your brain?

I have to admit your estimation of campaign length is accurate and terrifying when you put it like that. But I have built in a few backdoors along the way given how unpredictable the rangers can be.

Oh my god, Alex, how do you even have that much room in your brain? It's simple; he uses more than one.
