Alternative alt-title: Dark side of the force Time to draw a line under the People's Church of the Divine Host, right? That's Maxwell Rayner and even Natalie Ennis accounted for, so all done and dusted. And the boy was rescued - so go Section 31! Nice to follow on directly from the teaser in the previous episode and who can blame Basira for wanting to walk away from all of this, for not wanting to get deeper into the darkness than she already is. One wonders though if it's that simple to leave. Once again, we get the associations of deep darkness and dark deeds in conjunction with religion or religious locations - even though this was supposedly an industrial estate, Basira imagined that she was in a 'cathedral'. Hallucination or some kind of spatial warping? A veritable trick of the light... or lack thereof? And if Basira won't help him, what does this mean for The Archivist's own investigations?

And the boy was rescued - so go Section 31! The blind optimism here actually made me laugh out loud! Wonderful episode, if frustrating in the amount of new questions it opens up without really giving us answers. I really hope this isn't the last we hear from Basira as she's been one of my favourite elements of Season 2. There's an awful lot to unpick from this statement but I'll start by asking the two most burning questions I have out loud: Is Michael the one tipping off the police? And what is Callum Brody's significance?

I have a memory of Jonny saying that no animals would be harmed in MAG... and now I'm struggling to remember if that also included children...

Plenty of animals were harmed in the slaughterhouse episode. Lots of worms have been hurt too.
About the current episode, I think the child was supposed to be the new host for the darkness that lived in the cult leader. That's why the child had a silent scream, the darkness was going to crawl into his mouth. Which is why the cult is called "The People's Church of the Divine Host".

I agree, and I wonder what made Callum so special. I find it interesting that Natalie stabbed Leo after he had seemingly begun to take on the darkness (note the milky eyes). I'd wager he was too old to be the host. Or unworthy. Or something.

Speaking of cathedrals, it's not like we have previous testimony of shadow creatures beneath the most famous cathedral in the UK...

Speaking of cathedrals, it's not like we have previous testimony of shadow creatures beneath the most famous cathedral in the UK... Just clarify, Episode 63 was St Paul's church in West Hackney - not St Paul's Cathedral. I imagine the cathedral would have much harder to break into... www.achurchnearyou.com/st-pauls-west-hackney/Slightly less impressive than the cathedral

Remember from MAG 9 'A fathers love' there seemed to be this darkness coming for Julia Montork, perhaps her mother got killed because she was told her daughter was planned to be the next host. The protection her father was putting on her was to stop this ritual Maxwell was doing to Callum
