OR: A Question of Faculties
Testing times as LOLOMG goes to university - not least of which, I imagine, are the patiences of Grizzop, Sasha and Hamid. And, as ever, Bertie deals with his examination in his own inimitable way, though an answer of "someone ends up in extreme pain" was probably all too obvious.
Nice to have a somewhat lighter tone to the current story - as much as we're all still smarting from Zolf's departure and the mystery of Sasha's ailment casts a shadow over things, it's good to see time being made for some jolly necromantic levity. And when you've such a star-studden arcane faculty on hand, with such luminaries as Albert Einstein and Marie Curie, they'll have this little problem wrapped up in no time and can spend a lovely night at the opera...
Right?

Another fun episode! Poor Hamid, dealing with about 100% of the emotional labour required to keep LOLOMG running as well as comforting all the random people that Bertie hurts. I hope he gets to see his sister perform...although it looks like the team are off to explore some mysterious passages, which always works out so well.
Quite a list of personages appearing on that faculty list. Taking bets on the next historical figure cameo. Jane Austen (or was she the mysterious cranky old lady on the airship)?

Really enjoyed Einstein in general and his "test" for Hamid in particular. "You didn't prepare any spells? And you can still cast magic? Then duh, you're a sorcerer, whatever." Especially since sorcerers are a lot more rare than I realized! I was thinking "rare" like, oh, I dunno, a rocket scientist or high-level physicist. People who are around but you don't really know many in real life. But "first sorcerer in 200 years"? Wow!
Kind of curious why none of Hamid's previous professors twigged that possibility-- I guess they just assumed he was being lazy and not doing the homework when he didn't properly prepare or couldn't cast wizard spells?
