Yeah... it's gonna be embarrassing when we reveal none of it's connected and the archivist was dead all along
I came for the horror, stayed for the tinfoil hats.

They're a bit nearer than that, it's all of 5km - probably closer to 15 mins drive (walkit says it's about a 48 min walk) :-) How wide is east London? You can't go much further without reaching the outer boroughs, right?

This is the first one I had to wait a week for, as I'm new to TMA and I was able to marathon all the previous episodes. Anyway, good stuff. the placeholder names threw me, since I knew I'd heard several of them before but I couldn't remember why they were familiar and I was too busy trying to think if they'd come up in an earlier case to twig what was going on.
Regarding the teeth: perhaps they were related to the ones in MAG5, but at the time of the creation of the ones in the sack, whatever made them could only replicate one example, and has since learned to make a full set? They might also have moved on from dissecting dolls (perhaps initially not understanding that a doll is a simulacrum of the human form only on the outside) to dissecting people. I'm not sure about the dates, though, I'd have to listen to MAG5 again.

Hey Ashencircle! Welcome to the forums! And welcome to being up to date, it's a much more tense place when you can't munch through them! We actually have a wiki so you can check the dates out for the cases there: the-magnus-archives.wikia.comI like the idea that the students could only make one type of tooth before working out how to make different ones!

Welcome AshenCircle! Make yourself a tinfoil hat and join the fun/fear!
I feel like this can't be a one off... Some of the episodes really seem like they could just be an isolated incident, or Jonathan's sceptical analysis seems to be accurate. Unless it is just a really sick prank, this isn't just a creepy occurrence or someone allowing their imagination to get the better of them. If it weren't for the heart incident and the teeth in the apple, I could get that maybe he was just under a lot of pressure and this new unexpected class caused him to crack under the strain. Also we have the suicide, which further corroborates that something really weird is going on.
I would like to put forward a little detail I don't think anyone has mentioned yet (I only skimmed the thread so far, so if it has been brought up I apologise) : He begins by talking about how during surgery he wants to be able to feel the pancreas and a joystick just isn't the same. He quickly backtracks when Jonathan questions it, but I wonder if he might be covering up. He also mentions 'an infestation'. That seems to me an odd way of telling someone you saw some worms/maggots.
Theorising aside, I loved this episode. The students reminded me of the auditors from discworld, when they take human form in Thief of Time. They have human form, but don't understand how it is supposed to work or what it means to be a human. They appear to be simulacrums (see what I did there?) which I find personally terrifying. We've probably all encountered a person who just seemed odd in an unsettling way... as if they don't understand how being a person works. The sort of people who ask you what your annual take home pay is at a party, and why you don't have a higher paying job and why you did a degree in music when it serves no purpose... (yes, this happened)

What are you suggesting about Lionel Elliot, Coil? I feel like you were going somewhere, but stopped?

What are you suggesting about Lionel Elliot, Coil? I feel like you were going somewhere, but stopped? Sorry, I've reread my message and I did trail off a bit! I was suggesting that maybe he knows more than he is letting on about the infestation, and he may have been less than honest about no longer being a practicing surgeon. In short I wonder if he might be a more sinister character than he seemed whilst giving his statement.

Yeah, that's true, he did seem more sinister at the beginning. And I can't work out why his colleague 'committed suicide' (more likely murdered) but he wasn't. Feels like there's stuff he hasn't reported.
The students remind me of vampires, particularly as they don't seem to breathe. Or maybe of the congregation at that church the priest took a communion mass at (except actually he was eating the skin of some people). Will have to listen to that one again.

I don't know about murder... The note suggests that he (haven't checked the name) didn't want whatever the students were having access to his body post-mortem. Since we know what they did to the other cadavers, would you want them getting at your corpse? I am inclined to think that he possibly saw even more horrifying things or perhaps learned what they are/their motives and decided to end it all. I got the impression that they wanted to work out how to be human/fit in. Once they learned how breathing worked, they all started breathing so they would fit in. When Lionel visits the house, the student who answers the door tried to smile. Like I've said above, I think they are like a hollow shell trying to mimic a human. There doesn't seem to be any evidence that they have fed on anything, simply replicated it. The bones weren't diminished by their doing stuff to them (or we weren't told if they were). The apple is odd... it really doesn't seem to fit with the rest of it. Perhaps time will tell, or perhaps Jonny will just hide it under the carpet to annoy us...

If they only started breathing when Lionel explained it, are we to assume that their previous (deceased) teacher never mentioned it?
No, the logical conclusion is that, like most students, there's an influx of them each year, and these are just the latest individuals.

The more i think of them the creepier they get - who is making them? why are they being made? What is so important about them needing to pass as human in whatever task they are assigned?

That was my thought as well, cannon! Haha! If enough of us agree with a theory, we get to call cannon on it? Does that mean we can overrule Jonny's master plan with our pet theories?! If that is the case, I'm totally on board

...I've just been worrying about the scream from the house when Lionel went to see the students. Who was that, what did they do to that person in the search of knowledge? (although we have a terrifying and informed idea)
