Sadly, due to problems with Edinburgh logistics we haven't been able to record more Metacasts yet but I am hoping we can record one at the next session. I would LOVE to do mailbag metacasts but we haven't really had that many questions yet. I will likely get in the habit of answering one email question with the cast at the end of every episode and then when a backlog builds up we will do some mailbags. So I guess what I am saying is if you sling us a question to mail@RustyQuill.com (and it isn't offensive etc.) we will answer it on air. I'd love our first on air Q to be from yourself Freenie. Once we have saved up enough cash I am hoping to have a voicemail function on our site which would allow people to then record their questions and have their own voice be part of the show but that is a bit far off.

See. This is what happens when you tell everyone we are quitting. Everybody leaves. I'm sad now.

I really started to run out words for poop very quickly. It was utterly vile and if his character had weaker will and fort saves he would definitely have been making some checks against just being incapacitated with how vile it was.
That ice cream van is the bane of my podcasting life. It only ever turns up when we are recording. Never any other time.
Maybe he's a fan...

Thanks! I hadn't noticed the everburning torch will get annihilated by dispel. I am going to ruin James' day with that one. Regarding concentration to disguise casting, in the Psion rules it explicitly covers casting powers and hiding the manifesting. It describes it as a concentration check and they even list the DC modifiers. It seemed best to just transfer that across to arcane given it was already balanced. That said, I will probably stack checks in future. I.e. Concentration to manage to cast it and then a stealth/ disguise check to see how unobtrusive it is.

Cheers freeny. I think this is my favourite episode to date. I really loved how dirty I felt after voicing Barret. I just freakin' love voicing horrible people. Yeah, the story is built so that in these early weeks we should get each of the party getting some time in the limelight and in the next few session we get some really great RPing in. I admit that the early episodes suffer from what I call "American TV syndrome". The story has to move so fast establishing world, main characters and plot as quickly as possible so there is not really much space for the story to breathe. Its from this point that things slow down get a bit richer as a result.

Hey Anil,
I did a bit of research on it and came to the same conclusions you did. Thankfully there has been no use of it in recordings to date that should be an issue and from here on in we know the score.
Thanks for getting in touch though!

I used to play in a party with a character called the Jack of Hearts. He had a really irritating (and hilarious) habit of dying people's hair without them knowing just before major diplomatic missions.
PC: "My Lord we beseech you to consider the ceasefire, our people-" King: "Why is your hair green?" PC: "I - I don't- what?" King: "I HATE green." PC: "Damn you Jack!"

Hey James (Curtis), cheers for showing our Mr Ross your support. He runs a genuinely great night doesn't he!
You'll definitely want to swing by Quantum again after August as you will have a lot of top notch performers doing sets from finished Edinburgh shows so the quality should be very high.

Sad times you can't make it to Casual VIolence's show. The lead writer , James Hamilton, has a solo show called "James Hamilton is so lonely" which runs all month. That might be worth watching.
I always recommend a group called The Mechanisms. Sci fi/folk/blues, sci fi, narrative cabaret. Its great. In fact I am trying my darndest to get them involved in Rusty Quill in some way so that should show how much I think of them. They are up for the whole fringe.
I think "the Dark room" is up again. If it is, see it. The guy who runs it is brilliant and also hilarious. Its a choose you own adventure in the style of the old text based games but run live with the audience as the player. Its brill.
For sketch comedy (other than Casual Violence) its always worth checking out "the Beta Males" if they are up. Also they each do solo shows. If you like Rusty Quill you'll definitely like "StoryBeast".
Anything with Paul Foxcroft in, I have performed with him before (lovely man) and he is easily one of the best improv performers in the country right now. Also ostentatious if they are up there. (Sneaky spoiler, I am already speaking with StoryBeast and Foxcroft about appearing on the show.
Also "Max and Ivan" and "The Pyjama men".
Finally there is a theatre company called "Les Enfants Terribles." If you want to watch top notch theatre that isn't funny I cant recommend them highly enough.
Honestly there is so much out there. I'll try and get hold of Mr Ross and see what he will recommend.

I had so much fun playing with your Dwarven banker. In that game I was a changeling rogue who specialised in hand to hand. I was going for sort of half Jack Sparrow half Sherlock Holmes (From the Robert Downey Jr films.) I won't go into too much detail here about builds because honestly I will use some for NPCs in the campaign and don't want to do spoilers. But there was one concept I loved: Introduced a girl to Pathfinder and she wanted the biggest, baddest Barbarian she could. We did all that and then ended up giving her a Pseudodragon companion. We soon realised though that its mental stats were waaaaaaaay higher than the barbarian so the party decided to accept the pseudodragon as a member and only let the barbarian in as the dragon's familiar. Fun times.

Hey Connor, glad you are enjoying it and sad to hear your 4th Ed. experience got a bit infighty. It can happen. Yeah, we noticed that a lot of the gaming podcasts seem to be made more for the people playing than the people listening so that's why we try to go slow and make sure we can explain the system to people who haven't played before. There is a decent amount of difference between 4th Ed. D&D and Pathfinder so hopefully this will be fresh enough for you to be interesting.

We've already been getting some people messaging directly but over time here's hoping that this thread starts to bear the brunt of the rules rage. I apologize in advance to everyone who hates it when I play fast and loose with the rules. You are right. I do fluff the rules sometimes but only if I think doing so will improve the story. That said, if we are getting something fundamentally wrong please stop us from making idiots of ourselves.

I am hoping to get some round-by-round photos up and on the site eventually, once we get a chance but we'll need to do some more website jiggery pokery and right now I only have three hands.
My secret hope is once we get enough visual artists on board get a couple of illustrations per episode but that's a long way off.
