It's a real place, and is often spelt both ways (even within the same Wikipedia article) - I just have a preference for Johns' since if, as in the story, there were two, then it should really belong to both of them

You're right, it's not entirely fair, thinking about it. I shall attempt to refrain from such taunts in future, and stick to the occassional non-plot comment (and maybe a correction/clarification or two if necessary)

Not every name. Most of the people mentioned in the statements are just random bystanders. It's just that certain things can make a bystander... less random.

A while ago I played Betrayal in the House on the Hill for the first time which was brilliant, but the traitor rules confused me a lot. Yeah, it takes some getting your head around, but is well worth it. What I love about Betrayal is that there are 50 different scenarios, and they clearly set themselves 50 as an arbitrary target before actually starting to make them. So some of the possible scenarios are so clearly phoned in and broken that it becomes hilarious. Also, I have a deep love of games where each card gives some lovely flavour, but fit together in really weird ways. Eg. I was playing the little girl, and got an event card which was "There's an old mirror in this room. Your frightened reflection moves on it's own. You realise it's you from another time. Your reflection writes on the mirror "This will help" and reaches through the mirror. Draw one item". I drew an item card: Handgun! The seven year old girl spent the rest of the game running around gunning things down with the revolver her mirror self had given her. It was ace. Or another example was an event that placed an old wardrobe in a room, and it could be checked, and depending on what you roll, you could find nothing, items or event cards. First player checks: Nothing. Second player checks: Nothing. I check: event card. The event card is: A burning man runs out of the shadows! A flaming human being who had apparently been lurking in the wardrobe, unnoticed by the others who looked inside.

Heh. NOW you're talking my language. I literally cannot fit any more boardgames in the cabinet currently solely used for boardgame storage in my house.
Current favourites:
Eldritch Horror - Take Arkham Horror, make it global, and strip out all the dead-weight mechanics. It's both streamlined and more complex and I really love it, especially with the Mountains of Madness expansion, which does everything a good expansion should.
Eight Minute Empire - Perfect distillation of expansion/conquest game into a short (realistically about 20 minutes) but deeply satisfying play experience. I would describe this as a perfect game, in that it is as good as it is possible for it to be, and absolutely complete within itself
Wiz War - I love running around throwing spells at each other in a dungeon. Fast paced and so wildly unbalanced in all directions that it all balances out. Plus, if all else fails, you can punch a wizard! You can always punch a wizard.

I thought it was Hither Green Dissenters? You are correct. The Hither Green Dissenters chapel is, like most of the locations mentioned in the archives, a real place

It definitely has a player vs. environment feel to it, since if skill adjusts difficulty, not your roll, then how would opposed rolls work?

Archivist misread an 8 as a 9 - sloppy bookkeeping left behind by his predecessor, no doubt

'Tis no problem - you don't put together an intricate web of information stitching together seemingly disparate spooky stories without occasionally getting a long string of numbers wrong. Always better to highlight it so I can figure out a neat(ish) way to resolve it.

Thanks Jonny! But Gerard Keay isn't the same as the Jarid in the Bone Turner? That could be too spoilery, so is the spelling isn't the same? No, its no spoiler to say that Gerard Keay and Jared Hopworth are two very different people

His name is Gerard Keay - transcripts of the episodes should be available in the not-too-distant, but until then feel free to keep guessing at spellings!

The Archivist may have made a slight mistake when reading the case number, and it is in face case 9220611 (Ep.7) he was referring to, not 1106922. Sorry - the recording was done before I'd fully finalised the numbering system!

She is saying "Take her, not me" over and over again.
And to answer your question samanthae, I've never been caving, nor do I have any intention of doing so (researching this story has fully convinced me not to ever). I made a friend who did caving a while back and mined them for details, but the rest was just research and imagination/dark inspiration.

Oh my goodness. Re-created archive files would be amazing! Imagine that as a published book... *whirling ideas* I'll say nothing other than: wait to see the Patreon rewards.
