How many rogue levels does Wilde have? Also, I'm concerned that Hamid's quite so blase about his flat being easy to break into. 2 gold says that Wilde turns up either in Dover or Paris, having followed them. Beautiful episode folks!

Indeed, branching out into new and horrific territories where trees have eyes and also claws and also they eat people. Also there is a tape player. Having spent the last month writing material in this vein (using Lovecraftian theme), I am surprisingly interested in this podcast

I remember the one campaign I played where it turned up the other characters didn't even let me know it existed. I was playing a very childish character, who would almost always act before thinking. They were much more sensible than me. Well, you *were* playing a lightning genasi, so it goes with the territory and kudos for playing it so well :-) IIRC that's also the campaign where one of you ended up with a Staff of the Time Lords.

Yeah, the problem I've often seen with the Deck of Many Things is that people are very adverse to actually using it. By adding the glove, it gave incentive for the artifact to be used and could be used as an ongoing story point.

*Applause* for completing dungeon (1/many?) and lovely touch with the world-building re the Svalbard Seedbank Am definitely looking forward to seeing where you head next - will it be north to the frozen realms of the dwarfs or a jaunty trip across the Channel and cringing at Bertie's Continental endeavours? Did Bertie do a Grand Tour, perchance? On a technical note, could I suggest maybe dialling the sound FX volume back a bit, please? As good as they are, they've seemed to be getting a bit louder of late and I'm having a bit of trouble hearing the dialogue over them - particularly with the frogs on this week's ep.

Yup, pretty much any D&D campaign I ran post-uni would include my repurposed Deck of Many Things - the Plaques of the Seldarine (or Erevan's Deck) - for which I had a specific prop: a gilt-edged set of Arabic playing cards. If anyone's interested in the details I can send my notes on it to them, or post the item in the forum if preferred. I would actually like to see this, as I quite like the deck of many things and would love to see what someone else has done with it Okay, now posted to a new thread in the Roleplay Talk forum :-)

As mentioned in the "Any recommendations?" thread, this is the variant Deck of Many Things that I have used in several of my campaigns. I forget exactly where I got the base mechanics, unfortunately, but the glove/repeated use aspect is my own addition. I'm including the backstory I wrote, although it's pretty specific to the Forgotten Realms setting. Full text is here: Info - Erevans Deck.doc (51 KB) If you can't read the attachment, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

1. The PCs come across an elderly man, shunned by his village, who is being tormented by 3 spirits (of past, present and future) which have to be placated.
2. Someone is leaving wrapped up pieces of coal on the doorsteps of family homes - lumps which have a michievous imp bound to them. The minor mischiefs are now becoming a nuisance but no-one know who is sending the coal or why...
3. A village herbalist/druid is baffled as to why their potions and remedies are causing inappropriate romantic behaviours to occur, until they trace it back to some mysteriously enchanted mistletoe.

You're a monster. Probably a grievously misunderstood one, but a monster nonetheless.

Great character interplay in this episode. I can defnitely sympathise with Zolf - trying to lead two characters who come from privilege does appear to be throwing up some problems that 'friendship' has yet to iron out. I wonder, though, if Sasha is feeling somewhat awkward, being in the middle of this?

Hi, I'm Dacre. I first met Bryn like I met Hamid, gambling, and he beat me. Also, I lost my flat mate Anil to him. These two statements are less related than you might think. Thank you for clarifying that I wasn't the spoils of an East End poker game I suspect, though, you were glad to get your lounge back from the dice-wielding cavalcade that would descend early on the weekends.

It's a recognized problem! I'm seeking help! (Although Machinators Anonymous is probably not the best support group - think the bad guys group from Wreck-It Ralph ) I need to re-listen to a swathe of them before I start spouting wildly. I'm in no position for aboleth-level accusations yet...

I was going to suggest 'Quillers' but 'Rusties' is actually growing on me and, as was indicated, rust monsters are a classic adversary.
